Forget the owl, that's one caffeinated octopus (on the mug)!

Purple or slightly hidden?

As others have already noted, the purple looks much better, there is a certain "pop" to it. I like the little holes there to, it makes the ol' octo there look a bit mischievious.

I like the look of the owl by rogerrogerroger, and I love the cute little octopus that Jas is doing, but I'm really surprised that these two animals seem to be the only ones getting any love in this derby.

What about Ostriches? Ocelets? Otters? When do they get a tee-shirt? Sure ostriches may seem mean, and they apparently could kick-kill a man with their powerful legs--but this should be no reason to shun them!

If they are too mean, what about an Order of the Obsedian Ostrich? Ostriches in hooded orange cloaks surrounding a shining, circular obsedian table. Ready to carry out the hideous sacrifice of an otter? Okay, let my mind wander a bit on that one...

But you get the idea.

More owly then before but still not quite owly enough. I agree with the "more fuzzy than feathery" comment. One of the things thats always struck me about owls is how prominent their wing feathers are. I know that your owl is supposed to have chubby arms but they're looking too much like arms and not enough like chubby wings. Maybe its just me.

Sorry for yet another octopus design... I don't think I've ever done an octopus design before, despite having wanted to a few times, and enjoying drawing them.
I do have an ox design on the previous page though!

Any preference? Baby blue or royal blue?

I think the baby blue works better.
There is too little contrast in the royal.

Thanks Rads. I actually like the subtleness/blendiness of the royal, but I figured it wouldn't be the preference of everyone.

I remember being skeptical of letter derbies at first, but they've been pretty consistently solid so far. I'm looking forward to seeing what the artists conjure.

might be just my overly developed sense of potty humour, but that onion looks like he's making a deuce, not angry. either that or he's about to cry. that was actually my first thought... onions, crying, yadda yadda. maybe give him actual eyes with angry eyebrows?

English translation: "The metamorphosis of the caterpillar".

Is that correct? I have posibilities to be Rejected?

I just want to warn you. The navy tee-shirt from Woot is shockingly dark. Black or dark blues will not show up on it at all.

My "Unexpected Error" shirt on navy had black on it, it's invisible except where it's layered on top of another color. And even then, it's hard to see the difference between the black and the Navy of the shirt blank.

in addition, i'm also quite surprised at the lack of Other Obscure and Obtuse references Of Objects Occult Or Outright Obvious pop culture. why Oblige Only Octopi?

if i had any artistic talent myself, the first image that came to me was Ozzy Osbourne. maybe with an Orange smile going on or something. i'd have to think it through, but probly won't because i can only visualise in my mind, not put it down to paper (or computer as it were).

Rads- I like your new design and can't wait for my Scissors, Paper, Rock to show up! I was wondering if some of the icons might fall into the toilet humor rejection category. I'm no expert, but wanted to throw that out there. Good luck!

The foot of the otter and ostrich on the ring look floaty. And, I'd have the octopus holding the sheep up, with it's legs 'moving', rather than static on the ground.

Thanks. Here's one more I was working on this morning...Per Narfcake's suggestion - "Over-Caffienated Octopus"

Also, since the octopus appears on the coffee mug of the owl design, would either one of these be rejected because of the double imagery?

I don't know what it is, but I'm not feeling this design.
Maybe because it's a "cartoony" subject, rendered as more realistic/artsy? Also, you can't really tell that he's playing an ocarina, it just looks like a hamburger.

I think it's fine to have the double imagery. Put the Owl design on the Octo's mugs for the ultimate in self-reference.
