Miss, I don't want to embarrass you, but you seem to have misplaced most of your skirt. Would you like a coat or something? You look cold.

I agree that the sign is a bit much, but I love this design. Awesome job.

I long to wear this shirt at completely inappropriate social occasions.

Lovely job with all the idealized courtiers and the very, very realistically OMGOMGOMGPONIESOMG PONIES!-socks emperor.

Re: Trollin' the Bridge

What does this troll do when he get bored of hassling the billy goats that try to cross his bridge? He trolls the internets, of course! Thanks to technology, now he can troll while he trolls!!

Specifically, three of the Hansel and Gretel entries contain signs with fairly important text.

The ruddy ink of the pages are a nice emphasis that this is part of a story and they add to the menacing feel too.

Great illustration!

Re: Intervention!

I'm still bummed out that you couldn't have had the word "intervention" on the wall, and even sadder about losing the "bad wolf" sign. But this is still hilarious and my favorite of the derby!!! Voted!

Re: The Daisy on Blue

The Daisy is a Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tale in which a simple daisy who is appreciative of its life is praised by a lark, despite the beautiful tulips and peonies that are around. The daisy watches as the tulips are cut by children, and later watches the lark die of dehydration, unable to help the creature who brought it so much joy.

Thirded-ed! Plus maybe make the bottom not so flat, and perhaps, personal predilection here, a little bit more compact?

Re: Intervention!

This is a tragedy I really like how this design evolved from the first version in the preview thread. The surprised look on the wolves face and the anger/indignation of the other characters is spot on.

Re: Red Revenge

I like this concept, but something is bothering me about this. It took me a few seconds, and then I realized that although you clearly took time to shape them well, her legs are disproportionate to the rest of her body. Her thighs are almost the same size as her midsection. Maybe that's picky, but it's kind of bugging me.

Re: Der Mond

I'm not concerned with the pentagram (or not), but do have some reservations about the number of chain ends. An odd number (3) only makes sense if the other end is attached to the moon, and based on the look none of the chains wrap around in what looks like any kind of sense.

A bandolier of carrots would be appreciated about now

Re: Red Revenge

Wow. I might actually buy a Ramyb. (Not playa hatin', it's just that most are too cutesy for my taste.)

My favorite part is the background wolf and spatter. Her tattered cape and the shading are very nice as well, but her legs are bugging me too. Maybe a little more length on the skirt would fix it.

Great job.

Re: On Being Prepared

I really like this design - great use of negative space and very nice boiling down of the characters to simple forms.

Two criticisms:

It would be nice to see this vectorized so some of the edges (like the wolf's teeth) could be sharp.

The halftones look really spotty - they could be made a lot smoother I bet

Re: Intervention!

You know, even if people don't get that it's an intervention, there's something very tabloid talk show about this that makes it funny nonetheless. GMV, and I'd still buy it. Love the pink and the asphalt (slate)?

shikausstan wrote:After drawing it out I would say it hurts REALLY BAD!

I still love it though!

I think it's great! As it has a real cartoony style, I don't see the need to PWNY, er, complain that it doesn't look realistic. Most cartoon characters have had at least one and often two fingers on each hand snipped off; none of y'all are bothered by that! I checked*, and not a single complaint about how the chikkins last week had unnaturally long necks and nugget-shaped bodies.

It's a woman crammed inside a giant pumpkin, for pete's sake. She's almost certainly dead, with lungs jammed full of pumpkin seeds, and no oxygen in her blood.

*I didn't really check.
