...Oh yeah, we've done that already.

Was it just luck that the clouds were framing it so nicely? Cause that is pretty awesome looking picture.

Personally I live in a state where every small town is competing to have the best Paul & Babe statues. And yes the Babe statues are usually sponsored by the local carnivorous restaurant. I guess it is the best way to let people know what you are serving.

I'm hoping for the non-representative of anything monuments like the Eiffel tower, that make the place memorable after building. And bonus if it would cause an engineer to whimper about impossibilities.

Denver International Airport usually gets a goodly amount of awesome thunderstorms over the summer, such as when the photographer took that photo. It actualy made headlines out here I think. Given the "horse of the apocolapyse" look that blucifer has, some people were silently nodding and saying, "Soon..."

1) is that a photo?- they aren't really allowed
2) that text is hard to read and would just look like someone did a misprint.

1) Not a photo - it is tracing with grunge work along the bottom and sides.

2) I'll have to consider that - I don't want it too big (because that defeats the purpose of it being an "asterisk"), nor too small. I figure it will be big enough to read when its printed on a shirt, tho...

Ooooohhhhhh the temptation to do a monument for Kentucky's Big Bone Lick State Park is strong with this one. Yes, yes. Big Bone Lick comes with KY! There's also Peepee Creek.

Is there a provision for retroforming an existing landmark? I was kind of thinking of a Dr. Who Statue of Liberty welcoming people to New-New-New-New-New-New York.

A) The structure does *not* exist in North Dakota. (that's the joke)

B) Sorry - I've spent a good deal of time in North Dakota, and this is just about true.

But it's not a "new" landmark, since it already exists somewhere.

Even if significantly altered from reality (I've done quite a bit of stylization in the facial features - to create more shadows and accentuate the features, so it's not photo-realistic, but still recognizable).?

I just think it has to be funny or why have it on a shirt? If we didn't know what the space needle was and submitted it for this derby I think a giant statue of maple syrup or whatever would beat it. (imho)

No single only. And only works with some mods, but they have a pretty though list going. And it does work with some very popular ones like TMI, but I haven't DLed that one cause I consider it cheating.

I think there were some pretty cool looking buildings in the art deco and/or mid-century modern derbies. I'd consider a serious piece.

Probably because all the money for the theme park went to clean up the intended grounds ... Therefore no statue. We didn't even get it memorized on the state quarter.

I dunno about this derby...I see a lot of punny shirts in our future. I was kinda hoping for something a little more artsy and a little less cartoony this time.
But whine, whine, whine -- anyway, I am excited to see where people will go with this rather unconventional challenge.
