Thank you very much, I was just wondering to myself if anyone even noticed the continent. It's crazy how much of it can be made out from a Black Rhino's face.

Re: Balance

I really like this concept, but as an ecology major, the diurnal/nocturnal split here just doesn't sit right with me. Lions are largely nocturnal since it's cooler and most of their prey is out then.

I'll be interested to see how the shirt does. Probably won't get my vote, but if it turns up for sale I'll end up reconsidering. :P

"Big Game Animals"

Chess is a pretty big game, right? 4-colors on white.

sleekhare wrote:I wrote up a post replying to missmelis and blanked. I think, perhaps, that it was too long. Is there character limit, maybe?

Edit: Or maybe it was because I hit "add comment" as opposed to "reply," since I was replying to the two of them. Is there a safeguard to prevent someone from posting too often on a shirt design?

You're quick, btw.

Thanks! I'll look into this and update this post when I've got an answer. (I'm going to safely bet that it probably isn't a character limit thing, I mean - have you seen some of the posts around here?)

Edited in: Initial asking around indicates it may have just been gremlins. We'll keep an eye out for more of these sort of things, and let us know asap if it happens again!

I'm just hanging out, really.

Submissions like this are always a encouragement for me. It reminds me that an incredible design does not necessarily win even though it should. Basically, that I am not a terrible artist for not winning (I just am for other reasons)
Well done!

It can't be gremlins, they're much too large to fit into electronics. Ergo, the giblins must be to blame.

Thanks for looking into it. It it happens again, I'll let you know.

Re: Threads

Re-sub, because I made a boo-boo when I created the design detail. Lesson learned! Thanks, missmelis and blanked.

<><><><><><><><><><><><>

A safari design inspired by the patterns woven into traditional African garb. Six colors on brown.

The colors of African tapestries hold significant meaning:

White — purification, sanctification rites and festive occasions.
Yellow — preciousness, royalty, wealth, fertility.
Gold (orange interpreted) — royalty, wealth, high status, glory, spiritual purity.
Red — political and spiritual moods; bloodshed; sacrificial rites and death.
Blue — peacefulness, harmony and love.
Green — vegetation, planting, harvesting, growth, spiritual renewal.

missmelis wrote:Elvis's favorite.

No, seriously. How do you think he ended up "Fat Elvis"?

I thought it was just peanut butter and banana. But perhaps, when I was told the story, it was left out to save my delicate stomach from such a thought.

This is oddly-adorable enough to get my vote.

I think your execution of this is beautiful. The connection the meme has to this work is more of a minor bonus, if anything.

dooomcat wrote:Well... considering the size relations are off and male lions don't generally do any hunting it's not meant to be 100% accurate. I did find a picture of a meerkat eating an elephant shrew while I was researching this so I do believe it happens.

Well, there you are then! Meerkats do seem to be opportunistic feeders, so I wouldn't put it past them. Also liked someone's suggestion that the meerkat was just planning to push the shrew out of the way, and someone else's note that the elephant doesn't look like he's stalking, so much as going "well, THIS is weird..."
