Staff

Time again for another march toward t-shirt doom! Discuss this week's life-or-death struggle for sales supremacy as chronicled on the Reckoning page all week long.

Here's how the Reckoning week runs now: every Tuesday at midnight, we retire the previous week's lowest-selling shirts and launch this here discussion thread. Tuesday around noon we'll post the all-new, all-early Reckoning Recon. On Friday, we'll juice demand and prime the pump with a little weekend reminder post. Finally, on the following Monday, the Day of Reckoning post sounds the last call for the Reckoned shirts. All of those posts will be linked below. Monday night (or Tuesday morning), it starts all over again. The Reckoning, she is a hungry beast...

A pretty poor start for the noobs. We'll see if a 2nd one can escape. And how many Hipsters can make it through a 2nd week?

Cheese's massive run of sales last week just bought it a few more weeks of life. Morning Powerup is bound to run out of energy this week. Curiousest, Land of the Fries, and Pop Heart are not likely to escape. And keep the fire alive, please!

Ah, but will it be saying "MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW" or "MEDW MEDW MEDW MEDW"?

Either way, I'll be sad to see Anndy go.

Agree 100 percent. I think Super Effective can survive another week if it gets some love, but it will be close. I'll be curious to see if Always Leave a Note manages to knock the Binge out of second (and unless I'm mistaken, which is entirely possible, this is the second time this year that Binge has been in second).

My friend read those all as "D"s when I wore the shirt. I glared at him and then explained how the "D" would be formed so it would actually make sense. I swear, some people... *shakes head*

It's amazing how both cheese and ninja were so close to reckoning, and are now safely back in the middle of the pack. Do randoms really bring in that many customers or is it something else?

Take a minute to reflect on diversity.

I wonder if there is any other top 20 list in the world that includes a Muppet, a Care Bear, Ninjas, Samurai, Zombies, and Dinosaurs.

I'm surprised that Always Leave a Note didn't make it to the top position on the Reckoning with its sales numbers.

I like how right now the worst-selling shirt is Haunted Housework with only 1 shirt sold, yet that was apparently enough to launch it to #11 on the reckoning chart.

I understand that's not how it works, but it appears that way right now. It merits a small smile on a tired, Tuesday morning.

quality posts: 3 Private Messages elfdreamer

My understanding is that the Reckoning ranking is based on the average T-shirt sales for the past 4 weeks. Does that mean that at any point the score represent sales from the past 672 hours or does it simply take this week of reckoning and the previous three into account?

I don't know about the ninjas, but it seems like the cheese shirt was getting bashed a lot right before it's jump. My theory is that there are some woot shirts that get a bump due to sympathy factor whenver certain segmants of the woot population start bashing them.

Of course, it could just be that both are pretty awesome shirts.

Heh heh, this has always been my theory for really hated shirts.

But well also the way the reckoning works I think Cheese just dumped a week of bad sells(4-weeks ago) for a week of really good sells(last week) so it jumped up the charts.

In the case of Cheese, there's a Portal 2 expansion hitting this week. It's been in gaming news a lot, so perhaps it's rekindled interested for now.

I never bash, I just [gratuitously] question why the limping pony t-shirts are still there after all these months or years - and there's only one that you'd really find me ravin' about.

It's going to be close. Last weeks sales were not that good... I will try to drum up some love for it through my social networks and see what happens. Still it's had a really good run.

That's exactly what happened.

Cheese's sales:
Week #213 - 113
Week #214 - 144
Week #215 - 150
Week #216 - 191

This week, #213 doesn't count anymore. So with last week's run, up the ranks it went.

Ninja's sales:
Week #213 - 160
Week #214 - 158
Week #215 - 153
Week #216 - 120

On the corollary, the good #213 run doesn't count anymore, and in its place is last week's tepid sales.

There were people who commented - both on the original Derby entry and the discussion thread on the day it debuted, IIRC - complaining that the O in ANNOY looked like a D, or wondering who "ANNDY" was. I was trying to make a joke about that, but as usual I am not as funny as I try to be :-\

LOL I mostly just thought people didn't really know how annoy is spelled...

Actually no one commented in the derby entry either time it was up. So I was a bit surprised when people started talking about it on the sales page. I would have tried to fix it if I had known.

Pop Heart sold 3 since the beginning of this reckoning, hence it's not the worst seller.

Since Land of the Fries sold 2, that means the baseline would be 1194 instead of the 1195; I'll fix that later. Which also explains why my DSR calculations are always just going to be approximates ... it's not humanly possible to catch all of them at 12:00:00am, y'know.

I was coming here to post the very same question. For all I knew (this being my first random shirt purchase), they could put something like that in every random-shirt-trifecta-discount-code email just to drum up interest.

It couldn't possibly be hinting at a woot-off, could it? And what's Hallowoot? I vaguely remember something unusual happening here around Halloween last year, but that was before I got addicted and started checking the site every day (or, uh, multiple times a day).

Classics would be interesting... are there specific parameters for what constitutes a "classic"? (Or, in other words: any chance I might finally get that Fresh Cake I've been longing for?)

The Right to Remain Awesome has a chance of escaping yet again, if its daily sales sustain. The Rainguard and Lucky Park are definitely on track to escape. Cephalopedala might not. Super Effective and The Three Classical States of Matter will be most in danger, with Unstealthiest Ninja behind them.
