I've seen that red guy before. He's always seems to be in bad situations.

Constructive criticism is alright, but some people are starting to get downright insulting. You would be "embarrassed to wear this shirt in public"? Even if I don't like a shirt, I don't come here and slam it in the comments.

The person who made this shirt is a part of the Woot community, likely one who has been here for a long time like most of the rest of us. Most of the people who submit to the derby are not professional artists, otherwise they would just submit their shirts in the regular way to Woot and get paid more for it.

I believe that while showing your opinion is fine, nobody should come here to slam the shirt just because it is not their taste. Taste in everything is subjective, so one cannot say that something sucks as an absolute.

I'm basically saying that it's not nice to come here and hurt someones feelings because the shirt is not your cup of tea. The artist is one of us and comes here to read these comments, so play nice!

When we posted the writeup, it was a link to a playable web version of Burgertime.

Evidently the d-bag who runs that site didn't appreciate the traffic - because, you know, the reason you put something on the Internet is because you don't want anybody to see it - and swapped it out for p0rn spam. Cute.

I'm sincerely sorry about that. I'd be angry too. In the future, we'll try not to link to asinine pricks who don't understand how the Internet works.

The guy who runs that site, 1980-games, can be reached at stann.fox@gmail.com, if you'd like to let him know how you feel about his charming behavior.

I just don't think I want a shirt that looks like I could make it myself in MS Paint.

Also, I'm starting to worry about bunny shirt, I hope it comes tomorrow! On the last derby my fave didn't make it but was in the fog, so I hope it doesn't happen again this week!

Acetone

when applied to screen printing, will take awhile (because you need to remove all traces of dye/ink), but it can be done

I'm not so sure that's going to work. White print on black is plastisol, not ink.

Blacking it out with a sharpie is probably easier.

Sharpies are the answer to everything. Except possibly outrunning zombies.

i like the shirt. i bought it for, and sent it to my brother. he runs marathons and it fits him. he can be our zombie bait when the zombie apocalypse comes!!! he also likes the zombie genre.

i'll get him "acquired taste" in a couple of weeks and tell him that he couldn't run fast enough... and now wants a pb&j. HA!!

I feel like the bait should have been... of the brown color. Somehow it seems like it's always the black guy to get killed first or used as bait.

Well that's the risk you take when you choose to wear a red shirt. Tsk tsk, if we are unable to learn even the basic survival skills from Star Trek, I fear that there is no hope for my species.

This shirt is not even well done. I don't understand how it printed, or all the praise it's getting. No offense to the artist, but this is garbage.

It would really help if the naysayers could link to a picture so we could see if it really is THAT bad.
Or if anyone could post a picture of the thing really...
Thanks folks.

How does saying no offense to the artist prevent the artist from being offended when you insult their shirt?

parrotsramazing wrote:How does saying no offense to the artist prevent the artist from being offended when you insult their shirt?

I was going to the say the same thing! I can't stand when people say "no offense, but..." because it is ALWAYS followed by something that is offensive. Just like "being real"...prior statement that you are a jerk does not suddenly mitigate the absolute douchbaggery of your following statement.

It's not the greatest accomplishment in art, but it's clever and funny. Not everyone likes to wear cutesy detailed art on their shirts, just like not everyone wants text on their shirts. I'm thinking of getting this one for my bf for this very reason.

Also, I agree about it reminding me of "Some motivation"...which I own. Text does not necessarily destroy a design...unless you REALLY hate reading. o.0

What happens to shirts once they are out of the reckoning? Does woot purchase the rights to the shirts?

If they are no longer in the reckoning, they are no longer printed. Once in a while, some designs will be brought back. Most artists will opt for Woot to purchase the rights and for derby shirts, Woot obtains the rights indefinately.
