I don't know if I'd call this awkward, but it's a freakin' sweet shirt. Nicely done!

Maybe I should have just trashed my idea...

To tell you the truth, at this size, I didn't even see the "R" and I knew it was Robin. I think that you should take the "R" off and the concept will still be understood, then resubmit! Good Luck

FYI, you do run the risk of your design being rejected for text because of the exclamation marks.

They may not have told you specifically, but it's noted in the rules for this week's derby.

Okay, please don't mind the post above. It was about some other shirt.

j5 wrote:Since my carefully crafted data mining operation was removed, I encourage fans and otherwise to do their own to avoid uninformed speculating. Shirt. What is a great resource for derby stats.

Shoot, I'm really sorry I missed that.

I'm [supposed to be] working so I have to apologise for not taking the time to do more than skim through the link (I did have a better look at ramy's stats some weeks ago, or so I thought).

I wasn't complaining about the chibiness necessarily. It's the look-at-the-page-and-spot-the-ramyb-design-a-mile-away thing. Of course, I'm not an artist, nor an art critic. I can only say what I think reeks of laziness and what looks to me like he tried. The winning designs I think are mostly lazy (it's all in the details) or chibi or both. I'll spare you the detailed description of what I think stinks in each shirt.

Still, I was surprised when his game controller submission (somewhat planned and not cutesy) got 117 votes while overly awkward-looking drawings like the zebra dance and teacher darth vader garnered around 600 and 800 respectively.

Maybe if you count the stats I'm wrong. I do still get the feeling that he is constantly encouraged by voters to go for the facile, be it cutesy and/or gory.

No toilet humor? There's toilet humor all over this thing.

Toilet humor can be a debatable fuzzy line, but when you literally have a toilet in your design that's pretty much game over man.

Funny though, and I like your mummy.

Thank you, and re awkwardness: I was looking at it from the point of view of Death having worked all this time building a big, bad, serious image so that he could be sure that when he comes for you, you'll wet yourself; then his pet kitten hops on his shoulder all sweet and lovey and really ruins the moment.

I'm no crime scene investigator, but I fail to see how Death would have nailed himself in the cranium at that angle. But don't mind me, I'm just jealous of success.

Dumb.

"Awkward turtle" is actually sea turtle in American Sign Language (ASL).

"Awkward turkey" is actually peacock in ASL.

"Awkward palm tree" is actually video relay in ASL.

"Awkward llama" is actually a classifier for a dog in ASL, except the two fingers don't go up and down.

"Awkward moose" is actually moose in ASL, except the thumbs tap against the head and not flop back and forth.

:/

talk about awkward moments... this design was doing so well until it just went dead in water and slowly fell down down down... AWKWARD! I guess not funny enough compared to the other designs. Better luck next week, right? thanks for all the votes and support for all of you who voted and commented.

sirend wrote:yeah no sh*t its their fault.. where does it say that i cannot put the title of my piece on the detail design. I looked at other derbies before and that's what everyone was doing. They would have text in one but not the other. But i get the reasoning that the images dont match? The web design and user interface of this website has a long way to go. The rules are vague and unclear. I literally had to sit there and read through the forums to find certain specifications simply because during the submission process there is not much info on what i have to upload and what it should or should not have. Maybe it's easy for you to say why can't i figure it out but this is my very first time on this website or overall a website of this kind. So dont give me this "you are stupid" thing.. everyone is different and yes I didn't know how to do it because it doesn't tell anywhere nor do i have any friends on this website who could explain to me what to do. You are a joke to actually take your time to respond to this and defend them and then blame me for messing up...

Actually, there was a point in time when this was allowed. However, it hasn't been allowed in a couple of months because people had been going over board with it. Woot made several announcements saying that the only thing allowed in the thumbnail was the actual design of the shirt. Don't blame woot because you didn't read the rules.

Re: Do You Feel Better?

I completely disagree with this ruling. You have TnA and other humor here and this is not worse and is better than lots of crap you let pass. haha yes intended word. So anyway, If you are going to reject this one, then keep the suggestive crap off too. And anything that has to do with humans. IF he had done this with a bear or critter, you would not rule it out. And it does happen, Sir. Ever walked around in a busy downtown? Not odd or unusual.

THIS RULING IS FOUL AND STINKS. NOT THE PICTURE.

Thanks all for your support. I'm brand new to this and just trying to figure things out. I honestly don't have a problem with the no toilet humor thing. I didn't realize that was already established as a rule, but I actually thought it might be a little questionable when I submitted it. No harm done here...Hope I didn't offend anyone.

I've been sitting on some sloth-based ideas since several people liked the last one, and sloths are shamefully underrepresented nowadays.
Someday they will be as ubiquitous as penguins.
