Eww, grass?!?
Why couldn't it be something cheery, like yellow?

Half-toning the shaded areas may have solved the color issue you were wrestling with. I dunno.
I actually like the contrast on this one better than the other. (I'm not going to say "pops" because that's such a cliche, along with "negative space"). I'd guess it suits the majority Woot crowd also, since "ooh, pretty colors".

Re: Drop Bears

I actually reevaluated my votes in hopes that this would make it to the fog. As of now, you are 1 away! Here's hoping this one makes it to print!

P.S. I love that it is on yellow.

Rejected because: Appears to be gradients in preview images, see submission page for guidelines on gradients/halftones

so can you edit my preview image? Thank you so much!!!!

Re: Aww They're So Cute!

I've voted for both of these (yellow and green).

Not sure which one I like the most.

Green is a much better colour (for me) to wear, but it highlights the fact that the koalas are yellow. Which they aren't, they're grey (or greyish brown).

I didn't even notice that fact in the yellow one because they're pretty much the same colour as everything else. When they're yellow against the green they're not as identifiable as koalas, they might be teddy bears jumping from the trees.

Don't get me wrong, I love it and if either get to the top 3, I'll buy it. But if it was green tshirt, grey koalas... oooh yeah.

Totally. Needs to be on orange. An intense cheery color. XD

The contrast is better for sure.

@seacore - That was my other dilemma at the start of it all. Grey seems to wash them out majorly unless it's on a dark color, or I at least have a dark grey to shade them with. At that point I could try to halftone a dark grey shading with the black the I'm not a huge fan of halftones for something like this. Ideally, I want this: http://fablefire.com/dropbear_wipGRAY.jpg

If this became a daily tshirt, I'd buy it, but I'd rather the invading army be a different colour, just to avoid the racist interpretation.

You will probably want to resub. Your thumbnail and full-size pics are switched, and Woot's new rules prohibit having any additional text on the thumbnail like "Version 2," "Resub" or "Vote for me."

1) I feel like the octopodes (or whatever the heck the proper plural form of octopus is) are just going to look like yellow spiders from a distance.

2) Wasting blue-ringed octopodes on a pocket shirt is....disappointing, to be honest.

Cute animal + abnormal violence/being carnivorous....Without trying to sound like a troll, it would appear I've seen this pattern before. And back-to-back weeks, no less.

That being said, as others have pointed out, amusing expressions.

Also, I do agree that this looks much better on green than on yellow.

Really nice design but where is Tasmania? ... Generally people love my Woot and Ramyb T-A Day of Thanksgiving (1951) but I live in Sydney so if I bought this I'd constantly get asked where the 6th State went! May still buy it though.

Re: Aww They're So Cute!

Ooooooookay.

After seacore pointed out the yellow, I couldn't not see yellow. Seems like there's a yellow hate-itis disease on woot. Didn't want to look at it all week. After MUCH tinkering, here is a version with no yellow at all. The bears are appropriately neutral for drop bears. And there it is.

Apologies to everyone who kindly voted green. It's up again. I'm not changing it anymore. In fact I'm running away from my computer right after I update my art sites. Running away quickly.

This is what I thought (after marsupials) when I saw the derby. If I had artistic ability I would have tried something similar.
Koalas are way more popular than this nerdy game. I wish this this was not rejected.

I haven't SEEN the movie, but I'm aware of the reference, so I understand it.

Although I wouldn't exactly fault the rejectionator for passing over this.

I dunno, when I think Austrailia, after I think of all the cute fuzzy things, I think of all of the things that are 10 times bigger there: snakes, spiders, fish, etc. Bigger things that want you dead, bigger knife. Those Swiss guys are really wussy.

So, this has been up for a few days, and no one has commented on it at all... It's not looking like it's going to make it to the FOG, which is unfortunate because I think this is hilariously adorable. But yeah, I wanted you to know that I very much appreciate this design because, IMO, it is full of win.
