Hey there, still kinda new to this. Hope you like my design, i don't pretend to understand physics but here's my take of geometry in nature.

Re: Conducting the Aurora

I was reading the book Gödel Escher Bach a few years ago and it described the mathamatical complexity in Bach's fugues, comparing it to the structures of Escher's drawings and Gödel's theorems. That was the inspiration for this design.

I have and use that calculator at home... The display is slightly larger than in real life, but it sure would be cool to pose with it while wearing such a shirt.

I'd rather have it upside down with 07734 on it, though...

On the bright side, I feel less like puking after I submit this. On the downside, this is only my second time submitting so I still feel kind of pukey. On the even more downy downside, I don't know a thing about math.

However, I learned a few things in my quest for design subject matter! Leaves have fractals, dragonflies wings are pretty good examples of voronoi diagrams, and sunflower seed thingies are decent representations of a Fibonacci spiral. Non-math brained people like me wouldn't be able to tell the difference until we looked it up on wikipedia, of course, so I thought I'd take the idea of these things being hidden despite being so obvious and run with it.

Now, I'm hoping that it translates all right and they are subtle as opposed to completely lost. The things I put in my image are meant to be loose interpretations more than anything. Also I know that a dragonfly probably wouldn't be hanging out with a sunflower, but I didn't expect bugs to be made of math either so I can afford to go a little crazy.

EITHER WAY.

Click for a better look!

Thank you and have a pleasant day!

Great shirt, except the axis of symmetry is -b/2a, not b/2a.

Re: Solve for X

(Cat - Food Dish) + (Mouse - Mouse Hole) = X
Cat + Mouse = X

Since there are only addition and subtraction operations we can ditch the brackets in the first equation. Rearranging the first equation we get.

Cat + Mouse - Food Dish - Mouse Hole = X

If we substitute in the second equation we get:
X - Food Dish - Mouse Hole = X

The Xs cancel out and we get:
- Food Dish - Mouse Hole = 0

Adding Mouse Hole to both side of the equation we get:
- Food Dish = Mouse Hole

so how does one interpret these results?

If there is no food dish the cat will use the mouse hole to acquire food.

A food dish delivers food so the opposite must take food therefore - Food Dish = Stomach Pump therefore Mouse Holes = Stomach Pumps?

Hmmmm.... this will require more thought : )

Funny. We just started the fluid dynamics chapter today in class. I guess it's true - you can't escape the physics, not even on Woot.

Anyway, great design!! Love the details on the marble, especially :D

"The little acorn grew and grew and grew and grew until it woke up one day and said, 'Geeometree!' "

Okay, old joke. But geometric shapes are all over nature, not just in the shapes of trees.

5 colors on silver. I tried baby blue and I tried medium blue and they just didn't work.

since I'm not smart enough to know if the equation listed was right or wrong I still dig the design and love the color choices and how lays on the shirt. very wearable. you could have put e=mc2 and I still would have like the design.

If you look, there is another strand in the same position on that second one. I would guess it is part of the fractal theme to the image.
