You know... for those hard days when you have to choose one thing over another.

This is exactly the sort of thing that would divide a crowd at your workplace's next corporate planning meeting. All will get the joke, but some will feel that it's at their expense.

In my mind, that's a full endorsement.

I would like to see that powerpoint presentation. I'm sure it is full of errors I can point out, like things that are anatomically impossible.

shame that he got the symbols mixed up, they should actually be reversed.

It's been a while, but isn't the diamond a decision box and the rectangles statements?

I don't know.

amantsch

quality posts: 0 Private Messages amantsch

I thought the diamond shapes were used for decisions, not rectangles. (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/visio-help/create-a-basic-flowchart-HP001207727.aspx)

Amen.

"Making choices: decision points

When one user action may generate one of a number of results, the system must make a decision about which result is to be presented. (Perhaps the most common example of this is error handling on form submission.) We call this a decision point, and as in traditional flow charts, it is represented by a diamond. "

I believe you are right. Maybe there is more meaning to this shirt than first meets the eye?...

I wonder if the error is intentional? The symbols are reversed. edit to add: and yes, I posted this without reading the other comments.

Cryin' shame. I'd have bought this one in a heartbeat if the symbols weren't reversed.

baqui63

The box and the diamond are backwards.

I cannot decide if this is a Good Thing and makes the shirt even better, or this ruins it completely.

Maybe if I sleep on it the answer will come to me.

Would have been an auto-buy if the triangle/rectangle symbols were reversed. What self-respecting geek could wear this as is?

After a couple minutes of staring at the design, this is what I think Jupilberry is trying to get across - It's one thing to post this, but it's another to buy the shirt.

I just might go for the second thing.

Same here. If I wore it to work I'd get laughed at. I get really mad when people laugh at me. Not that I do anything about it, but my face gets really red and blotchy, and my voice gets squeaky. I hate that.

Yup, I'm definitely not going to buy it.

ruthjhodsoll

man, this would be perfect if there's a tad more color.... not much mind you, just a hint... you're not wrong. Life is boring. So don't we as proper capitalists purchase goods that make us feel happy? If it isn't one thing, it most certainly is another, so shouldn't we live it up and be orange instead of grey? Ot better yet, fuschia!?!

I suspect the mistake is on purpose. I noticed it immediately and thought- that's stupid- they're selling it with the mistake.

... but I guess that's kind of the point- goes with the shirt.

The problem is- if it is that hard to figure out that it is a mistake on purpose- most people will think it is a mistake for mistaken reasons.

Unless I'm mistaken.

So, would Woot fix it if some flow chart genius figured out which way was funnier?

Kuragari

quality posts: 6 Private Messages Kuragari

This shirt is just lacking in any sort of cleverness. It's just trying to appeal to geeks who like flow charts but who would make a two node flow chart? Not real geeks. This is more like a blow chart. And that's what this shirt does. Blow.

First you realize your decision point is missing a "yes" option, and then you realize it's not even the right shape to be a decision point.

If it's not one thing, it's another.

Eh
Way too basic to require a flowchart, and although I'm sure that's the joke, it's not a very good one

Sadly, same thing for me. I like the concept but am not interested in getting laughed at for having my info wrong

(as opposed to getting laughed at for being a geek, which is okay)

The flowchart mistake totally ruins it for me. Wouldn't be caught dead making this mistake much less wearing it.

Would have bought it otherwise.

That's exactly how I felt. So I realized it wasn't one thing, it was, in fact, another.
