With another week of the holiday sales run removed, the DSR needed for survival has dropped down to around 25 right now, and will most likely drop some more before the Reckoning hits next Monday. Still, any shirt over 4 weeks old still has a major advantage in that two weeks of high sales are still factored in. It'll be another tough week for the noobs.

The lack of success is likely due to the holidays. Shirt sales seem to take a significant dip around this time of year.

Not always a matter of money. I've found that most online activity slows down during the holidays as people are traveling and visiting and in general doing more offline. I know that I barely posted anything over the last 2 weeks, so I suspect it's true for others as well.

Yep, people are just too busy and burned out to check. It will probably pick up now that the holidays are over and people are back in the office(cough)/at school/etc.

I wasn't very enthusiastic for the latest derby winners, none of my favorites printed.

It's kinda obvious that two of my favorites did. But alas, for this coming Monday, I'm not quite so prepared (financially) to pull off my normal "first and last" stunt for all three that aren't destined to make it.

Derby count as well as number of comments. Usually there are 25+ pages of comments on the entries, and for the holiday week, just 13.

It seems kind of unfair that the Ugly Holiday Sweater's standing includes the past few weeks sales... it clearly isn't going to sell much of anything from here on. It seems like it would be better to bump it to the danger zone now and let the Tree and the Whale and the noobs have a shot.

On the corollary, many other good ones would've been reckoned "before its time" too for just a bad week. So there are positive aspects for the 4-week basis.

Tepid sales could very well drive UHS out of safety this week; last week only yielded 38 sales, or just over 5/day.

The numbers needed for survival are definitely dropping. But so are the sales.

What I wonder is if the Holiday Sweater may feasibly be eliminated. Its sales are pretty much at nothing, but I'm not in the mood to do the math to see if it will happen. This is one of the few situations where the woot-based DSR may be a helpful indicator of its performance (compare its woot-based against newbies real-time).

That pretty applies to all Holiday specific designs. The strong survive for a couple weeks after the holiday, then drop like a rock. For reference, look at the recent Hallowoot shirts.

Okay, for the people out there who are better at mincing out what the numbers mean than I am: Will Nevermore slip into the danger zone next week?

It honestly saddens me to think that Nevermore may not make it to the 200 mark.

But on a serious note, no, I haven't ran any "what if" numbers yet; I don't do the "three weeks ago sales" number until Monday when I prepare the new baseline numbers.

More than Nevermore, I'll be sadden if Acquired Taste doesn't make it to the 52 week mark.

I'm interested in the fact that NONE of the folks that kvetch about the lack of arty shirts are cheering on the fact that 2 out of 3 shirts from the Motivation derby were artier and only today's had the usually despised cute factor.
