After the tsunami last year, there's a part of me that applauds the implied rebound of Japan that this shirt symbolizes.

Love the pop of red in the midst of a sea of neutral colors

The Red-crowned Cranes are beautifully drawn and so calming. They are also symbols of luck, longevity and fidelity.

I lived in Japan for 3 months during my study abroad... and I can tell you for fact that is how the Japanese make the sun rise.

I get the feeling that the sea will print very nicely.

I'm gonna wear this shirt when I go to Japan to help the tsunami victims later this year. I think they'll appreciate the symbolism. Great job!

Too bad the bottom of the composition is so square... Otherwise I think it's quite lovely, and it would have been a no brainer buy.. Now I'll have to hem and haw about how much it bothers me... And then I'll probably buy it anyway....

Clearly the writeup is right and the joke -is- too subtle! Kobe is a city in Japan.

I've been holding off on a lot of great shirts because my shirt drawer is getting dangerously crowded, but I think we'll have to squeeze another one in. This is a stunning piece of work. (And cranes -> Crane Wife -> Decemberists is how my brain rolls too, which just puts the shirt in my cart faster.)

Someone tell me the fail whale resemblance isn't actually intentional so I can wear it without feeling like a tool.

Beautiful, emotional design. Kudos! I am, however, still continuing my ban on gray shirts.

It's missing a person with a pair of fans that have the Japanese flag design on them. That's what you have to use to get everyone to pull at the same time!

I thought this was a James and the Giant Peach shirt until I read the title.

Kind of a bummer that Shirt.Woot won't ship to Singapore even though this is the artist's hometown.

Any chance for a change in shipping policy for the day? Or, maybe the time has come for Singapore to finally be added to the list of countries Woot ships to.
