After the tsunami last year, there's a part of me that applauds the implied rebound of Japan that this shirt symbolizes.

The Red-crowned Cranes are beautifully drawn and so calming. They are also symbols of luck, longevity and fidelity.

Beautiful design. I hope the rising sun shines bright this year .

Wait, if that was a real sun, wouldn't the ropes be burned up in the process of lassoing the sun?

I lived in Japan for 3 months during my study abroad... and I can tell you for fact that is how the Japanese make the sun rise.

Images of cranes will always remind me of the story of the Crane Wife.

I'm gonna wear this shirt when I go to Japan to help the tsunami victims later this year. I think they'll appreciate the symbolism. Great job!

Did you get a confirmation email or does it appear in My Account above? If so, the order is complete and you can just refresh that page.

We've had some problems with the final order confirmation page loading today. If the order hasn't completed (email or in My Account), there may be a funding or verification problem on your end.

Too bad the bottom of the composition is so square... Otherwise I think it's quite lovely, and it would have been a no brainer buy.. Now I'll have to hem and haw about how much it bothers me... And then I'll probably buy it anyway....

I still don't get the "Don't wear this shirt" joke. Even with the added hint. Can someone explain?

Clearly the writeup is right and the joke -is- too subtle! Kobe is a city in Japan.

I've been holding off on a lot of great shirts because my shirt drawer is getting dangerously crowded, but I think we'll have to squeeze another one in. This is a stunning piece of work. (And cranes -> Crane Wife -> Decemberists is how my brain rolls too, which just puts the shirt in my cart faster.)

Anybody remotely interesting is mad in some way.

Someone tell me the fail whale resemblance isn't actually intentional so I can wear it without feeling like a tool.

no Decemberists, no tsunami wreckage, just images of the red crowned crane's courtship dance...some birds have all the fun!

lets see- if the sun rises from the Pacific like this suggests, doesn't that mean that in California, Washington, etc, it would be rising to the WEST?

If it was the real sun, it would be wayyyyy the hell to big to fit in the ocean...what with being 12,000x the surface area of the Earth.

Way to be literal. I mean, the whole idea of cranes pulling the sun out of the ocean is fine, but you want to quibble about direction? Yeesh.
Beautiful, emotional design. Kudos! I am, however, still continuing my ban on gray shirts.

It's missing a person with a pair of fans that have the Japanese flag design on them. That's what you have to use to get everyone to pull at the same time!

Well, it's what the Japanese do with parade floats, at least.

Kind of a bummer that Shirt.Woot won't ship to Singapore even though this is the artist's hometown.

Any chance for a change in shipping policy for the day? Or, maybe the time has come for Singapore to finally be added to the list of countries Woot ships to.
