I'm guessing that SkekTek used the 'create outlines' feature in illustrator for text and changed the anchor points.

Nope. Totally sketched by hand- drew the outline, then went through several iterations of pencilling in the letters, scanning the result, then once I got them where I liked them- did the final changes in Illustrator.

Here are the last few sketches before the rest was digital- note the middle one where I screwed up and spelled lau wili wili wili... too many willies

I really think you're kind of stretching it here. Don't get me wrong, I like the design. I just don't think the design itself expresses "Dubious Honors" very well.

Actually, it is the cadet uniform used in the 2009 movie (see below). Since the 2009 movie takes place in an alternate TOS timeline the joke stands.

Unless you mean the "red shirt" is the wrong uniform because it has the wrong Starfleet emblem, then you may be right. I'd be more concerned that the use of the Starfleet emblem, which doesn't look generic enough, might not pass copyright.

Shame because I love the shirt.

Haha, nope. I was not familiar with that shirt! I did think about submitting just a plain design, but thought that would get rejected due to it not following weekly rules, "No text only designs. You've got to have a graphical element." So I tried to make it as simple as possible in terms of graphics. But thanks for pointing shirt that out! :]
