ZOMG the shirt is 12 dollars! This price hike is cruel and unusual; why must WooT make me drink water instead of a soda at my favorite eating establishment just so I can enjoy these shirts at their one and only true price of $10?

First, to all of y'all whining about the price hike on Shirt.Woot... Google is your friend. Y'all are about 2 weeks behind the power curve to be Katie Kabooming about this.

Second, *golf clap* to Woot, for the excellent cut against the upcoming Hunger Games movies. For those that missed the joke, most of the characters in the novels are just barely on the good side of starvation, with many descriptions given as to their ill-health, gauntness, and general malaise of being perpetually starved. There is no such appearance within the fine casting choices made for the movie(s). So, it seems Woot's more commenting on the greed of the studio's et alia: "Wow, blockbuster novel series! Lets make it into a rushed movie and make MORE money!"

Main difference between "The Hunger Games" and "Twilight"? Twilight could only go up from being made into a movie... Hunger Games had something to lose. (And from all appearances, did)

If you liked Hunger Games, you should read/watch Battle Royale, the infamous Japanese manga/movie that came out over 10 years ago that Hunger Games basically copied.

But Battle Royale isn't a rip off of Theseus and the Minotaur at all, right? I mean, that only came out THOUSANDS of years before. Not to mention all the other stories that involve pitting people against one another in a fight to the death. Everything that came first automatically makes everything else a rip off, right?

There's never any mention of a 14th district in Hunger Games that I can recall. How does this have anything to do with the books? And where does the taco come in? Someone break this down for me please =/

I really think this is just meant to be funny. If you've read the books, which it seems you have, then it probably makes enough sense.

I've just started book two, I'm in for one. I love tacos and in real surprised at how much I love the book.

Perhaps if district 14 really existed, no one would have to be hungry...because it looks like 14 makes food. Methinks this is the joke.

I'm guessing this could accurately be described as the "Amazon Now Owns Us" Tax.

Announcement or not, it's a 20% price increase. And Woot was founded and still bills itself as a place for really good deals. Woot's shirts are now 20% less of a good deal.

For me, that's enough to move Shirt.Woot's T-shirts from the "funny shirt -- really good deal -- I'll buy one and tell a friend" category down to the "ok, if I really, really like it" category.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Loved the books but the shirt, I just don't get it..

I can feel the pressure building, like I'm the cork in a big bottle of soda marked popular culture and someone is shaking it. Reading Hunger Games is becoming inevitable.

(I'm not playing Skyrim yet though! Never play Bethesda games until they've had a year to patch the bugs.)

I must admit, this shirt initially reminded me of District Taco since I now live so close to DC ... So for people in the Washington Metro Area, if you wear this about and encounter someone like me who's never read or cared about The Hunger Games, people might just think you're endorsing District Taco.

I totally didn't get the Hunger Games reference, but is anyone else from the DC area aware of the District Taco food truck?? The shirt made me want lunch!

You could also wear this shirt if you happen to be visiting East Haven CT. It has the mayor's approval! O.o

I really enjoyed the Hunger Games books!

Going to have to tell my boyfriend's niece about this. She's insisting I go with her to see the movie - I think I might buy this shirt to wear! Even though I've never read the books... I just want to fit in!

Thank you for the specificity! I read all three books (twice), but I did not remember any mention at all of a 14th district and didn't understand the taco reference.

In the book there are 13 districts and they each produce something (3 is fishing, 12 is coal... etc.). Clearly, what the author is going for is sardonic humor. Like, "Wouldn't it be funny if there were 14 districts and in the 14th they produced Tacos!!!" Since Tacos are totally like something that is a life necessity... like coal, or electronics, or weapons.

Get it?

Like, the thought, but it just isn't a clear enough reference to get my cash. It might get my son's, we'll see after school.

As for $12 shirts: It's still a good deal, as long as the reckoning shirts don't go North of $15, that's pretty much at my upper limit.
