Re: Scurvy Free
Jeez, this is so awesome. Idk if people just have a very different taste in shirts than me or if shirts just get hidden at the bottom and don't reach their potential. Great work regardless.

Re: The Rusty Hook
Hello folks. Just a reminder to focus on constructive and helpful criticism. And as always, if you think there's an issue with an entry, you can use the Tattle button. That's why it's there. THANKS!
Re: No Escape
I also find the cats creepily adorable. This looks awesome and is really well done.

sometimes it comes down to the preview image. I don't think the preview image does this design justice. I probably would have helped to show that something whimsical was going on here.
Re: A Map to My Heart
Re-sub with "pulmonary" fixed, and I'll vote for it!
Re: MONSTER FROM THE DEEP
Great shirt and interesting color for the octopus. Got my vote.
Re: Pirate Toast - Arrr!
oooh the cuteness!!!!!
Re: Finders, Keepers
Would die for anything that reminds me of "Stardust". Beautifully done!
Re: Arrrr!
fantastic.
Re: Pirate Letter
If I had a child, I would totally want him/her to wear this to school.
Re: Land Blubber
So cute! I love it <3
Re: X marks the spot
Clever, and extremely well done!
As someone who is not generally a fan, I have to say, I do like this one. It's not cutsey, it's not pandering for votes. It's nice, well thought out, and very pretty. More of this from you, please!
Adorable! Love those catfish!

Oops! I'll do that tomorrow. It's way too late and my computer's being a pain.

I love how graphic and clean this design is. Beautiful!
Re: Hungry Beaver
That first beaver's expression is perfect! Wonderful illustration.
So simple and yet so perfect. I want to buy it for myself and wish I knew someone who's name started "R" so I could buy it for them too!
Re: Arrrrrrctopus!
The purple and blue color combo is just so gorgeous! Weird and wonderful - I love it.
nessa204 wrote:I've been waiting for something like this. 've got a couple of kids' sizes in mind! Super cute >_<
Agreed.
Logged in just to give this one a vote; a personal requirement for any shirt that makes me actually lol. Very clever & nice look, I couldn't care less about the use of clip art.

I liked the rhubarb one better.

Gorgeous! Like a dreamy storybook illustration!
Supercute! Love the coloring!
Re: Pirate Radio
Cute character! Very neat!
Re: Pirate (space)ship
Fantastic half-toning!
Sweet illustration!
Re: Pimped Out Pirate Pet
Hah, funny!
Re: Sorry Polly!
haha! Made me laugh!
Re: Forbidden Treasure
want want want *O*
Re: ARRR!
I like it - you've done a lot with a just a few colours, and your style, as always, has an instantly-identifiable charm. However, My eyes are bothered by Pirate #3's apparent lack of arms. The hook seems more to be coming out of his back?
jlsinger wrote:Any comments or critiques are appreciated. This is a redesign of my previous submission. My last one had an unintentional pop culture reference.
It's MUCH better without the reference anyway.
This derby has shown me that I'm just not a huge fan of the 'pirate' aesthetic. This is one of the few entries I could see myself wearing. Loving the manic energy you've captured here - I almost get a bit of a Jhonen Vasquez vibe.
Re: No Quarter Given
Not much of a pirate-person myself, so don't know as I'd *wear* it. Nonetheless, the concept and execution are spot-on. GMV out of sheer respect, and inspiring me to try and scratch an eye-patch on every picture of G.W. I come across from here on out.
collegechic wrote:I love the illustration, and the way you interpreted the theme - very original! I think I would like it better without the text, though I know people really wouldn't understand what it meant. GMV
i agree, great idea and text not necessary
cpresti wrote:Cool, but I think the deck and the water are both a little weird. Maybe it's just me.
I disagree; I like the juxtaposition of the realistic textures with the very simplistic, cartoony style. Gives this one a little je ne sais quoi ... though I'm not sure how well it would print?
