Cataract surgery on f--i-l did not go well. First surgeon ran into trouble so the doctor had enough sense to stop when she realized she was in over her head. We had to take him to Dallas in a hurry to see a retina specialist who completed the removal. Dr. said it was the worst he'd seen in his 20 years. He'll now will have to wait for his eye to heal before the new lense can be inserted. 12 hours and 2 surgeries later he's home sans cataract AND lense.

We got to Dallas by 11:30, second surgery started @ 4:30 and finished @ 6:30. He probably go to Dr. 1 for the lense once Dr.2 gives the o.k. I have to take him to Dr.2 tomorrow for a follow up. Probably 3 weeks before the new lense if f-i-l will agree to try again.

Thanks, will do.
I think she was competent she is just not set up for complications of that magnitude. To her credit she stopped when she realized it was going badly. I really think some may have tried to soldier on and ended up making a bad situation worse.
In other news it looks like we're in for a good storm if the thunderstorms to our west hold together for 50 miles or so.

Morning, And happy Friday.
Ice, sorry to hear the surgery didn't go well, but at least it wasn't a total shock. Hope he recovers well and can get the lense attached quickly.

Good morning everybody! Soaky to the bones rain out this morning. A bit gloomy but SO MUCH to do today.
I'm hoping I'll be awake for the nearby theater's showing of Serenity tonight at midnight but right now it is looking a bit 50/50.
I'm just hanging out, really.

Can't, gotta jam to Best Buy, replace my headphones, come home, help interview/screen a candidate for GeekGirlCon, dinner and playtime with the kitty.
Somehow I'll make this all work.
Also if anyone's curious what my cube looks like at work I made fuzzy iphone pictures. Some day I will clean up long enough to get pictures of my home office which is so much snazzier.
I'm just hanging out, really.

I would wish you a happy 4/20, but you aren't into it.
I guess I will google why it is 4/20?
Drug reference, saved you the effort.

If it will make you feel any better, today is Adolf Hitler's birthday.

I don't get why I am expected to know all these code words. Do you think if they legalize it everyone will settle on one name and I won't have to spend half an hour trying to figure out what in tarnation they are talking about?
Still single, can't imagine why.

Well, being short an eye really sucks, but it sounds like they should still be able to repair it? As long as the brain still works, one can adapt to most things.
