I thought the bow-tie made a roughly w-ish shape--if you trace the lower edge, it's a w. I originally had it highlighted in the same fashion as the 'h' but I ended up decided it detracted from the design and the 'h' would be enough to give the word away.

I've found with a lot of these designs in this derby that once you see the word you can't unsee it but before then they can be hard to spot. The problem is, there's no before then for the designer.

This shirt made me cry a little.

As far as the 'meaning'... SPOILER ALERT:

Everyone is correct that this is a Potter reference. Snape loves Harry's mom Lily so much, even 17 years after her death, that his patronus is a Doe (which was her patronus). Also, he loves her so much that he is willing to go against Voldemort just because he kills Lily.

A ton of credit goes to PixelPants for recruiting the team, organizing all the plans and decisions through Stixyboard, and then apparently staying up all night in Australia to put the art together in time for the derby.

The basic idea was to make a design that summed up positive/creative collaboration, with any proceeds going to a charity. Certainly was a pleasure to be involved. :^)
