Staff

If you ask us, breakfast doesn't need any help selling itself. Are you kidding us? Breakfast is DELICIOUS. But just as a thought exercise, we want to see you come up with your own mascots to help spread the gospel of breakfast food. Maybe Baron Von Bacon or the Eggsecutor of the Estate or Bagel Boy. Or give us your best riff on brightly colored, anthropomorphic cartoon animals pitching breakfast cereal. Just sell us on a specific breakfast food of your choice!

  • No Pop Culture. And especially no designs invoking CURRENT, trademarked breakfast mascots.
  • No text only designs. If your mascot has a slogan, fine. But you have to have a graphical element.

Can you have text as the name of the cereal?

Ah, so according to the rules, a little anthro-biscuit saying "They're Grrrrrrrrrrrrits" standing next to a piping hot bowl of grits would be a no then?

This will be good, seeing as how my current favorite shirt in the reckoning is related to this theme

Yeah, so there's that...

No pop culture ... which hopefully means that even the parodied would be rejected. After all, there were Lucky Captain Rabbit King Nuggets too.

Fun one...so no bowls of "champions", but lots of cute bunny and penguins eating bacon, "O" references and the such. Now it's to come up with a funny line, which is not my forte...

We have a rejected daily that might work for this... not sure if it's pop culturish though.

Dang! you're right! But anthropomorphic food is totally Walmazan. *gasp* They should do one together! Walmazan could do the anthropomorphic food and Bootsboots could do the catchy slogan to go with it!!! :D

Now I wanna see how they'd work together!

Oh My Fruitful Garden, so many many things! The difficulty for me is to not coming up with somethings that everyone else is doing.
I usually right down the first ten things, throw them all out, then start to seriously considering the rest.

Does anyone thing a piece of bacon dressed as an RCMP would be considered "pop culture"?

I wouldn't think so either, but you never know. Just in case, here's a quick sketch of what I'm thinking...

Canadian Bacon

Does Woot lump internet memes into pop culture? Most of those you don't have to worry about copyright.

Memes are the Inception of pop culture. They are pop culture ideas that use pop culture to comment on itself.

So I would say, yes.

Well i get it but I'm having a hard time seeing bacon. Color would definitely help but I keep thinking of that stupid movie Osmosis Jones.

The problem I have with this is that you didn't use Canadian bacon, which is also called back bacon. This looks like American style bacon. See the second paragraph here.

That's the gag. American style bacon dressed as an RCMP. My side's are splitting from the hilarity!

But I digress. Once I color him in and make the whole scene more Breakfasty™ I think it'll read better.

I just wanted to get a sketch out there to see if it broke any of the pop culture rules.

...and yes, Osmosis Jones is a sucky movie.

To me, I don't think it fits the theme of "Breakfast Mascots", but I'm interpreting it very literally.

I'd like to see others weigh in. Does this meet with the "Breakfast Mascot" theme?

I just threw this together, and wondered if this is worth pursuing.

Good point... but if a ninja really was the mascot (as it might be here)... you wouldn't see him...

Well he is very generic or maybe he isn't because he sure isn't bacon.

That seems valid to me.

As long as you have an arguable position, stick with it.

I just realized this sounded kind of rude and I didn't mean that at all. I thought the movie was stupid not your drawing. I like the drawing! It just makes me think of the little organisms and whatnot in that movie... except dressed like a mountie... hmmmm mounty? Oh well you know what I mean, neither one looks right to me right now. I'll probably think bacon more once it's in color though.
