It's the British spelling of sidewalk.

Re: Namárië/Aldudénië (Tolkien)

I love the delicate patterning of leaves and grass. One criticism however is that you boxed in the design. It would have been nice if it had some gradual integration into the shirt.

The composition of this design is great. You divided the shirt with the ground plane then unified it with the skeleton.

Is there a more general forum area?

I would be happy to join you in a discussion there. Of course you don't HAVE to use halftones, but you can only have six colors maximum, if you don't use them.

Re: The Hunger Games

Okay, so someone makes a poem about a book and therefore this is okay? That means the telltale heart shirt could have stayed. I am sure someone wrote a poem about that somewhere.

Kind of reminds me of the painting the bathers by cezanne.

Re: Joe's poem

Joe's Poem
A demons sigh fell heavy,
and it stole the light,
as it passed my way it stole my time.
I hunt the demon now but he's hard to find,
he wears a mask to hide from light,
he wears a smile to beguile,
the smile he wears is my stolen time.
Mark your time thief your fire grows dim,
the time you steal will be your own.
Take yourself back to darkness demon and hide from light,
and hide the smile that bears my time.

Why isn't this skyrocketing into the fog? I love your art style, and the poem's cool too, although I'm not familiar with it.
It'll be just criminal if this doesn't print!!!

Narcissus or Narkissos (Greek: Νάρκισσος), possibly derived from ναρκη (narke) meaning "sleep, numbness," in Greek mythology was a hunter from the territory of Thespiae in Boeotia who was renowned for his beauty. He was exceptionally proud, in that he disdained those who loved him. Nemesis saw this and attracted Narcissus to a pool where he saw his own reflection in the waters and fell in love with it, not realizing it was merely an image. Unable to leave the beauty of his reflection, Narcissus died.[1]

So, funny story- I remember seeing that poster a while back on itunes movie trailers and was WAY disappointed to find out that rather than a movie about a dinosaur it was a depressing drama about a guy with anger management issues.

naomiderrebe wrote:I love Lorenna's version! It's beautiful. The only real shame is that she left out 3 stanzas, one important to the plotline of the poem. alas.

Love the poem and her version. The left-out stanza does make the plot harder to follow, but I find it interesting that her version is almost more depressing--even though the refrain at the end of the poem brings them back as ghosts, it still focuses on love; hers ends with violence and, I think, focus more on the Highwayman than Bess.

This is such a great poem. I was so happy to see that someone had chosen it to do a shirt of it. This is such a great design too! I'm glad it's on a black shirt too since those are usually the only shirts I seem to buy lol I loved this design so much! Great job! If this wins I wont buy one though... I'd buy twelve! lol

Re: ECCE same: Behold the Man

'Tis a bit silly, but this won't let me write the word "h0m0" as a normal word, so I had to use zeroes... I realize in most cases nowadays it might be used as a slur, but in this poem's case, it is the Latin word for "man"... as in h0m0 sapiens...? Goofy thing...

ECCE H0M0 - Friedrich Nietzsche

Ja, ich weiß, woher ich stamme,
Ungesättigt gleich der Flamme
Glühe und verzehr’ ich mich.
Licht wird alles was ich fasse,
Kohle alles, was ich lasse,
Flamme bin ich sicherlich

BEHOLD THE MAN

Yes, I know from whence I came
Insatiated, just as the flame
I glow and consume all that is me
Light becomes everything I touch
Coals are what I leave of such
A flame I am, certainly
