Adelas wrote:I (and my 2 year old and 4 year old) just adore this little chick. I'm a little perplexed about the design placement, though, because it seems to be off center towards the (wearer's) right side. That's unusual - off center chest designs are normally placed on the right side.

Was it intended to be centered and it's just a trick of the eye, or is it supposed to be "off-kilter" to go with the whole flapper=sassy/stick it to the man attitude? (GMV either way)

Thank you so much!!
The off center part just happen to be a careless mistake on my part. ^^' I did the t-shirt part in a rush due to the entry already being delayed. If it were to sell, i'm sure shirt woot, using their artistic eye, would probably move it, even if it was against my will.
However, if you would like to think of it as sassy, rebellious action, please go ahead. :3

Because penguins on this site only do what real penguins do.

My first thought was to depict the tense negotiations from Mao Zedong's historic first meeting with Josef Stalin, had they both been kittens. But it turned out they just would have wrestled for a bit and then fallen asleep, which didn't seem terribly shirtworthy.

Re: breaking barriers

On October 14th, 1947 the sound barrier was officially broken by a Peregrine Falcon flying at an altitude of very high. Though Peregrine Falcons were known to reach speeds in excess of 322 km/hour while diving, the feat of exploding the sound barrier through level flight was super unexpected and the only dude who was watching dropped his hot dog and was pretty sad about that for a while.

So uhh, this turned out looking kind of abstract, but a falcon breaking the sound barrier was the concept I had in mind when I made it, anyway :P

4 colors on navy.

Re: Leonardo

It's an clever concept, but I'll wait for the sequel: The Secret of the Missing Leg. I hear it's going to have more depth than the original and that the characters that needed more development are more fleshed out.

I haven't been voting much since the switch to Anvil - I feel like I should include a qualifier with my vote: "I'd want one... if it was on AA". But this - well, this is sooo good! Hilarious in a really dark way, love it. GMV

Re: Nighthawks

Edward Hopper's place in Art History is marked by his use of high contrast is his artworks. He's known for creating paintings that are so realistic they feel familiar. I thought it'd be fun to replace Hopper's "nighthawks" with real hawks in my version. I hope you like it.

Well I try that it looked more like a Bee, with the nerves on the wings and the antennas and changing it to a happy face so that the mouth was visible I also changed the tee color cause I thought navy was a better choice, simulating a concert Hope you like it!

Re: Trojan Cat

I don't know...I mean the Trojans took the horse into the city of Troy because they LIKED horses. Something tells me Trojan mice WOULDN'T LIKE a cat. On the other hand maybe it's just me over-thinking things. It's still cute nonetheless.

aerc712 wrote:But the shirt doesn't reflect that. It's peeps as Star Trek characters. The link between the design and what place Star Trek might have in cultural history is just too far to fit the derby.

I agree. Can't see how this is anything but a shirt referencing star trek. "historical event" doesn't just mean it happened some time in history. if this shirt were ok then you would have to allow something like a Frankenstein reference as long a there were a book shaped background to it.
