Anyone doubting the power of cute need look no further than A Shameless Plug. It was Fresh Cake five months prior to Fresh Cake being Fresh Cake, but the lack of a cutesy baked good (even considering the actual pun) left it at 26th worst ever as compared to 16th best. The lack of a household derby name probably didn't help the Plug much either.
I did not purchase A Shameless Plug because it said "A Shameless Plug." (Also, it looked more like a baby pacifier than a plug.) I would not have purchased Fresh Cake if it said "Fresh Cake." I'm sure you're quite aware, but it doesn't necessarily always reduce to cute + big artist = sales.
As a separate note on the thread topic, I'm very grateful that Narfcake separated the daily and side sale numbers. Since they come from vastly different advertising/visibility/sales platforms, they are not at all comparable. So, thank you, Narfcake! I find these lists very, very interesting.
I was made to love magic, all its wonder to know.
But you all lost that magic, many many years ago.

neuropsychosocial wrote:Are there any special-to-the-side-sale items that haven't made the list of Special Events "rarities"? Given that the "special" events have become twice-weekly and items-exclusive-to-the-side-sale seem to automatically qualify as "rarities," I'm wondering if it would make sense to lower the threshold to qualify as a special event "rarity."
Those numbers from up stream show 268 Rares to 28 Non-rares, one of which was a 3-Pack of AAs. So with 90% hitting rare, i think we need a number shift.
We have 100 Rares, and are in Derby 252, So that's at least 1764 shirts. Let's call that round number around 5%. Applying this to the side sale we get 5% at 17, round up to 20.
20 or less sounds good for side sale rarity.
