great idea and art! reminds me a very little of a threadless shirt from a few years back, but different and very wearable.

Re: THANK YOU, GOODNIGHT

Love it! A girl I grew up with and went to high school with (in the middle of an Indiana corn field) is a NASA trainer/pilot, who has trained most of the shuttle pilots over the past 20 years, and she was part of the crew taking Discovery to the Smithsonian last week.

She would absolutely love this shirt. It's been a bittersweet time...

You have to:
1. Be logged in

2. Have bought something from woot in the past (or present - you can go buy it now, come back, and vote)

3. The "vote" button is at the top of the picture, small, it says "I want one". There are also vote buttons on the derby page for each entry so you can go about doing quick votes.

Christian,

Alchemists frequently looked to the stars to solve their problems (most of the "elements" they worked with had stellar parallels - The sun (Sol) was associated with gold, Mars with Iron, Venus with Copper (out of which they made mirrors), the moon (Luna) with silver, etc.

Alchemists also noted the mathematical patterns seen in nature (a la The Golden Mean/Ratio), and created instruments to chart the stars to help them figure out how to turn base metals into gold, etc.

So, my shirt combines some of these (The stellar bodies with their alchemical symbols, arranged on the golden mean, charted over the stars)...

Got my vote though, i would buy this for sure :D

Thank you very much!

(I understand it's not an accusation - some folks around here just get touchy when unoriginal images are referenced in any way, so I was just making sure I didn't get unnecessary "tattles" for something nonexistent.)

Re: Cosmic Turtle

This is loosely based on the World Turtle. From wikipedia: "The World Turtle (also referred to as the Cosmic Turtle, the World-bearing Turtle, or the Divine Turtle) is a mytheme of a giant turtle (or tortoise) supporting or containing the world."

Thanks! I was having serious issues with the shape of the "tea" (since liquids form bulbular, amorphous masses in the absence of gravity), and my wife suggested some color shifts and changes to the shape to fix the problems.

Glad you like it!

Re: Antigravi-tea

Oh - someone asked in the pre-derby thread whether the gravitational force was supposed to be negative.

According to my friend (who's a physics prof), this is a vector quantity, so the question of whether or not it is positive or negative is dependent on the direction of the force vector.
