Debut day number (that probably cannot be believed, but I might go crazy if I don't at least post a number somewhere): 1082, on a mix of AA for women and imported Anvil for men and kids.

Um, since when does "women's style" mean v-neck, cap sleeves, tank tops, or spaghetti straps? I'm a woman, I have a wicked awesome sense of style, and I would never wear any of those features that you mention.

Women can be stylish (and sexy!) without exposing skin, underwear, or cleavage.

I agree. I wouldn't wear tanks tops or spaghetti strap tops with Woot designs because I almost always wear them under something. Having designs on them would be pointless since they would be covered 90% of the time.

My tracker says 1082. What it doesn't tell me is out of how many total possible sales. I'm starting to wonder if the sellout number was raised. I also have no idea how many I've sold beyond the first day.

As long as "Grammar Police" is this week's top seller, you can track your sales figure from the Reckoning homepage. (Edit: you sold three shirts in the time that it took me to write this post!)

I understand that restoring the sales stats for the numbers-watchers isn't a high priority for woot, but it seems far more important that the artists are able to track their own sales; after all, isn't that how the artists double-check that their commissions are correct? If woot raised the first-day sales limit, I certainly hope they would inform the artists; I thought Robbie said that he was informed in advance that the first-day limit had been raised to 6,000, but I'm not sufficiently motivated to search for the post.

Oh wait, I'm still a little shaken from reading the thread for today's shirt and thus absolutely motivated to distract myself. Turns out my memory is incorrect: tjost was not informed that the sellout limit had been raised to 6,000. I found the threads when the limit was raised to 5,000 and again to 6,000. That strikes me as strange: wouldn't a "detail" that has a major influence on commission be included in your contract with woot?

Thanks for the reckoning chart tip! I guess they are just working out the bugs. I'm sure it's a big ol' complicated undertaking to change over all of woot like this.

Wait, does that mean the artist doesn't receive the 2$ per shirt commission until they surpass 6k?

I certainly hope I am misunderstanding, as sometimes I intentionally hold off just to make sure the artist gets a little push later. Not to mention it makes this a far less lucrative venture for our beloved artists.

My professional t-shirt model (teenage son) is sporting "Grammar Police" for us. Ignore the wrinkles, this shirt is straight out of the bag! I'm very happy with the print. Thanks so much, woot! Can't wait to wear mine to school next week. :D

Sorry, I just saw this. The complete explanation is this:
Day 1: Artists get paid $1,000 for the first day sales. There's a cap on how many shirts can be sold the first day: it used to be 3,000, then it was raised to 5,000, then 6,000 (and now there's some speculation that it's been raised again, but woot has not clarified this with the artists). So up to 6,000 sales on Day 1, the artist gets paid $1,000. (If a shirt hits 6,000 sales, the "sold out" sign goes up until Day 2.) No matter how many shirts are sold on Day 1, none of those sales count towards a shirt's position on the Reckoning.
Day 2+: regardless of how many shirts were sold on Day 1, the artist earns $2 per shirt sold except during the one-hour woot-off sales. Every shirt sold, except during the one-hour woot-off sales, will count towards the shirt's position in the Reckoning for the next four weeks. (Essentially: three weeks plus however many days are left in that week; it's basically "how many shirts have you sold since four Tuesdays ago?")
One-hour woot-off sales: during the one-hour sales, when shirts are sold for $12, the artists are paid $1 per shirt instead of $2 per shirt. In addition, all sales during the woot-off hour are excluded from the Reckoning standings, so they don't help a shirt survive.

Summary: First day sales and woot-off sales are $12, which saves the customer some money compared to the regular $15 price. However, I see the $3 difference as $2 to the artist and $1 to vote for the shirt to survive longer in the Reckoning. What you're doing, buying a little later to support a shirt and an artist, is doing exactly that!

If any of that doesn't make sense, please tell me. And if any of it is wrong, I'm sure Narfcake will be around any minute to tell us what I got wrong.

Thank you, Professor Cake!

If I were still being helpful to woot (as opposed to being helpful to nice wooters and/or being helpful when it comes to bleating about issues that affect the artists), I'd suggest that we start an FAQ thread where we could store posts like "How do the artists get paid?" or "In how many different ways can wootbot fail to do his job correctly?" or "I NEEDZ THIS SHIRT. HOW CAN i FINDZ IT?"; then we could just link posters to the appropriate post that answered a given question.

(I don't recall seeing Margiecake's specific question before, but the general information about how artists get paid should be circulated more widely; it's not obvious. I'm not sure when I learned it, although it was almost certainly from something you posted, but I wish I'd known earlier.)
