I don't really get it. I think it might be Game of Thrones, but I haven't seen it. Anyone care to help a stupid fellow Wooter?

Okay, I'm going to take a guess here, is this a Game of Thrones reference? (I don't have cable, some one tell me if I got it right.)

Awesome design! The rest of the write up won't load. Is this a Game of Thrones reference?

The design is great, but now I want a high quality deck of cards with this design throughout.

I don't know.

I believe so. (Haven't watched it either.)

Another tee-a-day site has a GoT tee today, too. Thematic!

Pardon me, would you have any bags of crap?

Yes, this is a Game of Thrones reference! Four main houses--Targaryen (Dragon), Stark (Wolf), Lannister (Lion), Baratheon (Stag).

Nice touch on the coins/gold with the Lannisters and the poor sword at the Stark's neck.

This looks really cool (and glittery). And if I never watch any HBO, I won't "officially" know it's a reference to something I might have heard of, right? Is it? I join the list waiting for an answer.

Like Poe? Of course you do, you're here ; ) Try my new mystery novel:

I love how intricate each king card is drawn. Whether or not I get the reference, that is some nicely done line work there.

I read the books, and I'm pretty sure that it is the four houses. But who knows; anything can happen on the internet.

Yes, Game of Thrones.

Stark: DireWolves
Lannister: Lions
Baratheon: Stags
Targaryen: Dragons

Too many to list... Woot on, Wayne.

I also have not seen game of thrones before however after reading the write up the memes have taught me enough to recognize that it is a Game of Thrones reference.

Thus being said I think it is more important that this shirt is awesome even without you needing to be "In the know". For those people who get the reference its cool, for those who don't...it's still cool. This is my kind of shirt.

The write up is a discussion between a couple of pig farmers and war.

Don't wear this shirt: While watching thinly-veiled softcore pornography on HBO.

We call this color: Beware the Blackened Man

Design Size:
3X – S: 10.91” x 18.80”
WXL - WS: 8.41” x 14.50”
K12 - K4: 7.25” x 12.50”

Pantone Colors: 427C - 143C - 167C

I hope this is helpful.

I don't know.

Ah the Greyjoys and their iron price. "We do not sow" they say.

"We do not appear on this shirt" should be their secondary line.

(All joking aside, I like the shirt title.)

I'm glad you appreciate that fact. I worked really hard to create a piece of nice art first, and a fun reference second.

For those still wanting an official answer, it is a reference to said Game, and the art is an homage of sorts to the 4 main house sigils. This season of the show is based on the book "a clash of kings" hence the king playing cards.

Stark

quality posts: 4 Private Messages Stark

It's pretty vague for a Game of Thrones reference. Yes, those are four Houses, but there's a fifth king, and I would caution against angering the Kraken.

I don't know if there's some attempted symbolism that I'm not getting here or not. Granted, not a whole lot of time has been spent on the different standards, but the Dragon has three heads, not six. Why is the stag holding an axe?

HBO may be expensive guys, but you know what's less expensive? Reading the books.

6 heads because the image is 'mirrored' so there are two sets of 3 heads.

4 houses because there are 4 kings in a deck.

would have been cooler if the stag was holding a hammer

I'm guessing you haven't seen the show or read the books yet, I've only seen the show, but in the show they say 'Winter is coming' often. something like foreshadowing I guess...

All the GOT fans just let lose a collective sigh.

Read the books people..the show is okay but the books are better. (When is that not the case?)

I personally like that the reference is not blatant and makes you have to think about it a little.

In the show/books there are only two seasons, winter and summer. In the book setting, it's been a very long time since the last winter (we're talking decades, here). Winters are really harsh. The "motto" for house Stark is "Winter is Coming" because historically they have lived on the northernmost edge of the kingdom. In the first few books, it is mentioned that Winter is literally almost upon them, so they say it a lot. Hope that helps.

So what's the iron price for this?

jrutkowski

It's a nice looking shirt but I would of designed it differently if you wanted to pay any homage to the book or show.

During the Clash of Kings (Season 2) there are five lords who have claimed the title king.
Joffrey Baratheon, Lion & Stag Sigil
Stannis Baratheon Stag & Heart Sigil
Renly Baratheon Stag Sigil
Rob Stark Dire Wolf Sigil
Balon GreyJoy Kraken Sigil

For a Clash of Kings design I would have chosen 4 of these sigils. Probably drop Renly because he dies during this book and his sigil is present in his brother's and his cousin's.

If you wanted to add House Targaryen, with it's three headed dragon sigil, it wouldn't make much sense to have a king. At this point the only Targaryen known is Daenerys. Maybe have the Targaryen's represented with the queen of spades in the background.

While the sigils are somewhat complicated, the five kings come from four houses each with an associated animal. So, I agree with switching Kraken for Dragon. However from a design standpoint of gold vs iron, that would make three of the cards iron (Kraken, Wolf, Stag). I guess Stag could be gold for Renly but he's not as serious a contender as Stannis. I would also have bought this if the Dragon card was a Q instead of a K.

I just came here to say woot really missed an opportunity here. This shirt would be way better in metallic ink.

I'm pretty sure this isn't metallic but can we get an official answer from a woot-staff?

Anwyays- Aside from that I'm not a game of thrones fan but the artwork and detail that went into the design is truly remarkable. Great work! Might even consider getting it if it's metallic.

Am I the only one who is interested but ultimately gonna pass because it's a TV show reference and not just a cool reimagining of a deck of cards?

Well, I view it as a book reference if that makes you feel any better.

Anyway, I dig the shirt and would get it if only they offered a "pay the iron price" payment method.

Speaking of which, if I ever see anyone wearing this shirt in my size... just sayin'...
