So, I cannot be the only one excited about the shirts, totes, hoodies, ect, right? There are so many great designs from the past 4 years or so that I cannot wait to see. But unfortunately the last two times I have checked the "Woot Plus" section, I've been very disappointed. It seems like all the great designs that I would buy end up on aprons, and the hoodies which I would instantly buy, are more geared towards woman and children.

It just seems backwards to me! I would have thought what they are putting on aprons and totes, would be the hoodies.

Also, I have noticed that there are some AMAZING designs up, but guess what, they are on TSHIRTS! Which is exactly what they were printed on before! Why!?!?

I am sorry if I sound a little annoyed, but I keep getting really excited to see some prints back up, only to find them on an apron or tote.

I vote to allow US, the wooters, to choose which the design should end up on!

Shirt.woot, you could have had two more sales this week, just from myself alone if I were able to choose. If you are waiting until the end to ship anyway, why not wait an extra day or two and tally up which orders went to totes, aprons, hoodies and tshirts, then print them up on the final numbers, instead of only offering them randomly. Just remember no guy wears aprons or carries a tote, so why put a male oriented design on them?

I know I am not the only one who saw a design from Ninjas vs. Pirates and was disappointed because of the item it was printed on.

I just want a choice, pick the designs but let us pick whether we want a tote, or hoodie. PLZ! :D

If I don't see you no more in this world, I betcha on the next one you'll know me! Don't be late!

Agreed…. more hoodies please! They should have an all-hoodie event and make some great designs available for a limited time if they want….they would sell well, I'd think… ; )

There are a lot of factors involved with selecting designs, including availability of products, colors, and sizes, and printing capacity. I think ideally we would have every design on every product. Being able to sell you the exact thing you want at the exact moment you want it is would be a great thing. Unfortunately we aren't in a position where we can do that yet.

We have a certain capacity in terms of how big these sales can be so, we have to make choices. The biggest choice to me is this: do we want fewer designs, but every design is on every product, or do we want a lot of designs, but they're spread out over different product types?

Selection works both ways: selection of design, selection of product. With limited capacity, if you make a gain in one, you might have to take a step back in the other. If you have fewer designs in a sale, the odds that you'll want one of those designs decreases in the same way that it decreases if there are twice as many designs, but maybe not on a product you want.

After I got that feedback from you guys, we tried a sale where we had fewer designs that were all available as tees and long sleeves (Dressed by Robots maybe?). There wasn't much impact in terms of sales and fewer artists got printed as a result.

I LIKE the idea of getting a ton of designs on a every product imaginable. I'm sure my bosses like it too. We're definitely not ignoring your feedback, but we have to grapple with the realities that choices have to be made. The cool thing to me is that these PLUS sales are still in their infancy and we have plenty of room to grow and improve, so keep the feedback coming. Just because you don't see a change because of it, or an immediate change, doesn't mean you're being ignored.

And we'll try harder to put "good" designs on the hoodies instead of all these crappy ones. ;)

I'm not sure if you're a ragin Mysoginist, or just have a bad case of foot in mouth.

I specifically went looking for a pirate Apron for my Grilling this summer. Alas, it was a tote, and I'm happy with my current tote.

But I'm still male.

What a narrow-minded and sexist statement.

I know plenty of guys, including myself, who've used totes for grocery-shopping, etc.

Indeed! In the absence of silence or any indication of action, one tends to assume things (usually for the worse in my case). I was merely seeking the results of the "survey", since I didn't notice much change in the side-sale direction as a result of same. My expectations really aren't all that lofty, you know.

eta: For the record, I make no judgement as to the relative worth of a design, I buy if I like it or don't if the contrary. So "crappy" designs is relative.

My sole suggestion would be try for a tad more variety.
This week is:
12 Shirts
5 Uni-Tanks
1 Tote
1 Hoodie
1 Apron

had you gone
10 Shirts
3 Uni-tanks
3 XX-Tanks
2 Hoodies
1 Tote
1 Apron

You'd have had the same number, but a lot more options.

Finally, I too am intruiged by what you've done with Shhhhhhh, but I think in order to get a solid "will a color change change sales" number, you need to offer the original color side by side with the variation color.

That's total BS, the designs that have commonly been on the totes and aprons have been subjects appropriate to the item. Like reading designs on totes (for putting books in) or cooking designs on the aprons.

And yeah, men totally wear aprons.. it's traditional when BBQing for starters. And when I walk out of my kitchen wearing my awesome Bake it So! apron while carrying a tray of freshly baked Star Fleet insignia cookies my nerdy girlfriend swoons. ;)

I admit, I've not bought "Shhhh" so far because of the color.
and I don't wear tank tops, so that's just not an option.

This is what I would vote for! There is a new sale every week with new designs, so eventually, there will be something for everyone. But, if you continue with Anvil, it no longer matters to me what you do, as I don't want to waste my money on shirts that won't last past a few washes, and fit lousy.

I really appreciate that other posts have called out the sexism in the initial post; I wrote a post last night that would have been the first response to the OP but decided not to post because I was honestly afraid of being put on probation for calling out sexism. Thank you to each and every one of you who was brave enough to do so.

tgentry, I think there's some frustration that the concerns about quality control with side-sale items haven't been addressed, at least consistently. As I've been saying around here about other concerns, communication is important; lately, this has been largely a one-way conversation with all of us offering feedback and no sense that it's been heard or that the mistakes have been acknowledged or will be addressed. I'll go round up all of my side sale shirts that have men's-sized prints on women's-sized t-shirts (the one where the print actually extends onto the sleeves is particularly awesome) and send you pictures, but this concern has been around since the start of the new weekly side sales (distinct from the old "Special Events"). As far as I can recall, I haven't seen a response from a woot staffer saying, "Golly, y'all are right! We made a mistake with these shirts and we're going to take steps to make sure this doesn't happen in future side sales." Those of us who read the forums and stick around long enough to read responses from woot (rather than just swinging by to drop off complaints) aren't going to stop buying from woot because woot acknowledges that mistakes have been made, but a lot of us have stopped or are thinking about stopping buying from woot because there's no acknowledgement that mistakes have been made - so what confidence do we have that they won't be made again?

I would know, as I spend all of my time in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant, wearing girly woot aprons, preparing cheese dishes for my menfolk who wear uber-masculine woot designs on uber-masculine zip-up hoodies.

But not pants, because real men don't wear pants. Unless they're leather. Leather pants.

Ok, where's brain bleach, we're about to need it...

Please keep in mind there were very few (if any?) shirts available in women AA, so with that event you left smaller women out in the cold. Long-sleeved shirts are too big for us, and Anvil women blanks are too big.

I was so excited about that sale cause there were a handful of prints I realllly liked, but none of them were in a wearable size for me.

Why the ladies all be trippin on the NEW Anvil tees? I thought Size didn't matter?

Yes, this. I can wear an Anvil WS, but I'm the rarity who could fit an AA WS/WM and also an Anvil WS. But the long-sleeved shirts are so awesome and only come in men's sizes. I bought The Umbrellas when it was on long sleeves and absolutely love it on rainy days. And the material is so soft and nice. But the men's small is gigantic on me even after a wash and machine dry. I feel like I can't wear it to work even in my casual office because it looks more suited to be paired with baggy sweatpants for a "sitting around the house" day. If you had women's long-sleeve options, or at least a men's XS, it might help them fit a little better.
