neuropsychosocial wrote:This is treading nigh close to violating copyright: I don't see any parody of Geisel's work or characters, especially given the shirt's title. Geisel himself fiercely protected his copyrights in order to limit his characters and their worlds to his books; his widow has taken the opposite tact, fiercely protecting the estate's copyright so she can market it aggressively. I believe copyright is currently licensed to Universal: not sure if woot wants to do battle with Hollywood studios again...

I have to agree. Who's going to see this shirt and NOT think "Oh cool, a Dr. Seuss shirt"; that's the essence of infringement, no?

Love it. Being in Kansas, it's tough to dislike a design like this one. Nice job.

Re: Let your imagination run wild

Great tribute to the late Mr. Sendak. So fitting for this derby since that book is how so many young children have first experienced the joy of getting lost in a good book. (That sounds a bit awkward, but hopefully the point still comes across.)

Re: Mythical

Really nice drawing. I love the simplicity of it (one color, but still makes a vivid picture). I do wish that the drawing was all rounded edges, like the lower half that is coming out of the book.

I loved Reading Rainbow as a kid. Sadly, though, since putting this entry together I cannot get the theme song out of my head.

This is a tribute to The Pagemaster, which isn't a book, but has great reverence for the vicarious joys of fictional literature.

I was just trying to connect the celebrity likeness rule with the recent problems with the show and using the likeness of former President Bush for a head on a spike.

Overall, the genre is just not one that I personally like.
