(Had placed this post on the Everything But Woot board, but it was recommended that I place it here instead.)

I've been using Photoshop to edit photos, using a lot of the artistic filters to make them look more like paintings. I have one I want to get printed and framed to be a gift. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what type of photo paper, finish, etc. would work best? I'm looking for rich color and I'm guessing it would display better without a finish that reflects a lot of light. Recently I did a tissue paper collage which I photographed and had a matte finish print made at my local Ritz, and I was not happy with the color, so I'm looking for something better. Thanks.

You're right about the matte finish. I'd ask Kinko's about printing it on canvas if you want it to really look like a painting. They also have textured paper and stuff like that if you're going for a watercolor look. They're the best national printing company in my experience. It may be pricey but high-quality printing often is. *edit* oh yea, it's now "fed-ex kinkos" but they do the same stuff.

Thanks, ochopika. I do have a Kinkos near me. I hadn't even thought of them. Good to know they do quality work... I'll check them out.
