Some creators create in silence. Some need constant stimulation. What about you? When you do whatever art you define as your own, do you do it with music? Or without?

When I'm doing a print run, I need to blast house music. I've been into Wolfgang Gartner and Deadmau5 lately. When I'm thinking of ideas, I need silence, but once it's time to execute, some mellow music is nice. Bebel Gilberto or some ECM jazz or something.

I need music to get things done. Nothing makes it harder for me to concentrate than dead silence. It's imagination fuel for me. With the right kind of music and the right kind of atmosphere (like a coffee shop) for when I do my writing works wonders for me when I'm trying to get stuff done.

I've found I'm significantly more productive when I have music playing. Though more often than not I can't afford to have it playing because I need to be listening for something else, whether it be a colleague or a waking toddler.

Of course, the constant distraction of listening for a sound that doesn't come probably aids in my decreased productivity when music isn't playing.

Music. I'm either letting last.fm roll random tunes based on the night's mood +/or a music craving or iTunes is on shuffle. I know I'm serious about something when I decide on music that suits. Listening helps me stay in that zone.

I usually listen to Futuradio, they play great club music and French top 40. I really like French pop ^^. Im weird! They play a lot of our pop and rock too, earlier than we get it on the radio here.

For me, it depends what kind of work I'm doing. At heart, I'm still an athlete from a sport that involved quite a bit of dance and musical interpretation - so while I'm more productive when I'm sitting at my desk and there's music playing, it inevitably results in my brain being distracted by the music and starting to choreograph to it. During college, I dealt with that by listening to hip-hop while studying, but then I took a hip-hop dance class...

Music keeps me focused and awake, I listen to rock and metal.

Nothing helps me shred the keyboard like a killer guitar solo.
