I can't believe woot is selling those wristbands, whoever bought them should be fired.

About an inch and there's an overflow drain so it wouldn't be more than that. I know it wasn't there yesterday morning and I'm pretty sure it wasn't there yesterday evening.

Edit: They're replacing the water heater which is under warranty. Unfortunately, as it was installed 2 years ago, the installation is not warrantied.

October continues to suck.

if they don't have power, internet is difficult. mabe the cell fone towers would still be operating, mabe not. pretty sure most wooters don't have satellite fones.

now i'm wondering if it would be prudent for me to acquire a smallish generator. nobody is forever immune to a power outage at one time or another.

Where would you find this smallish generator? It is a popular item before a storm.

I now know the true necessities of life.

The busiest store around is Dunkin Donuts.

No cars on the road. Nobody even in the supermarket.
DD was busy.

Daughter just called and she mentioned the starbucks near her was also packed.

I just got some instant coffee, because I realized I don't have any type of non electric coffee maker.
Maybe I should buy a stove top one.

OHhhh wow, big gust of wind!

No real rain yet here. Mist, tons of wind driven mist.

Daughters work assigment for the day...go find a bar that is going to stay open and interview the people who decided to ride out the storm there.

She knows the starbucks is open, if she can't find a bar.

at this point in time I would suggest Kansas and parts west.

Northern tool, harbor freight, home depot or Lowes usually have a good selection.

I'm not a prepper but after experiencing rolling blackouts in the dead of winter as well as a 24 hour outage during the height of summer I thought it prudent.
Most of our outages are localized due to weather or equipment failure so refueling should only require a short 20 minute drive.

Why does everyone wait until there is a storm? Do they think there will never be another hurricane or blizzard again? You never see anyone buying a generator unless there is something coming,

they're waiting & hoping to see a cheap one on sale at woot before the next hurricane hits. when it does and woot hasn't come through, then they're forced to buy at full price.

My water heater experienced thermal expansion most likely caused by the TMP valve not opening like it should have. This sucked the entire top of the water heater into the water heater.

They're adding an expansion jug this time to avoid this problem in the future.
