Out here, when you go anywhere, regardless of direction it's common to say "up to" Occasionally, you say "down to", but "up to" is much more common. Even though Seattle is practically due West, we go up to Seattle.

I usually go down to my parents, because they are due South and a slightly lower elevation, but up to is acceptable too.

If I were going west, like to Indianapolis, or east, I'd go "over" there. Otherwise it's all "up" and "down."

The phone just rang. Daughter had the baby at home. Boy friend delivered it. They are on their way to the hospital. Good grief. Hubby talked to the boy friend . Hubby said he was babbling. I talked to the 911 dispatcher. She said she heard the baby cry and she thinks daughter and baby are ok. Needless to say, we are going to the mountains soon.

911 dispatcher just called back. She talked to one of the medics on the ambulance and baby and mama are fine.

Baby was born at 34 weeks. She weighs over 4 lbs. Not sure exactly. She is in the room with daughter for a visit and photo op so maybe doesn't need O2 full time. I don't know about lung development or any of that stuff. She looks great just small.

My granddaughter got engaged today to a very nice guy that she's been dating for five years. She said it would be a couple of years before they get married. I hope so. That will make them mid to upper 20s. And since they just bought a house last month, by that time they'll have a good idea of what money means.
