Ditto. I might buy it anyway, but dang the women's tees suck. The only difference I can tell twixt these and regular guys shirts is that the shoulders are smaller, but that's it. It hangs on me like a tent, with no definition at the waist.

I might buy one anyway, 'cause I live in Phoenix. But all my recent woot shirts are pretty much slacker house shirts or when I don't care about how I look. Which sucks.

I find the women's shirts to have an awkward fit: tight in the shoulder but loose everywhere else. I buy men's if there's a shirt I really want so it's at least loose everywhere and the added length is nice.

I'm on the fence on this design. I really like it but don't usually buy artsy shirts. Can we have prints? =)

Edit:

For reference, whatever blanks ThinkGeek uses for their "babydoll" shirts (as opposed to their "women's classic cut") is a _fantastic_ fit. Actually contoured at the waist, outlining the body but not tight at any point. Admittedly, I am very hourglass-shaped.

Fully agree -- the blanks are bad. My Goodwill is getting a lot of nice art on bad shirts after a few washes, even in cold water. I'd pay more for a better (USA-made???) shirt.

I think the fit depends on body shape. For the female blanks, I think the new anvil ones fit me sooooo much better than the AAs ever did. Although I do wish that an XS was offered for the women's anvil. I wear the small now, but I know there's plenty smaller than I.

I ordered one. I'm curious to see how the gold ink looks, washes, and wears.

After ordering one shirt in a woman's medium (RAMYB's flaming tiger) I switched over to the mens shirts. You would have to be shaped like a pyramid for the womans shirts to fit properly. The black fabric feels scratchy and cheap even after several washings. After washing and a bit of time in the dryer the mens medium fit almost perfectly and the navy blue fabric felt much softer than the black. Still it looks like a good fitting mens shirt. The old womans XL fit best.

I hope the black fabric on this shirt is better than the black fabric on the womens shirts or I will have to stop buying black tees here. I'm considering cutting RAMYB's flaming tiger design off the womans shirt and using fabric glue to put it on a better quality black tee.

Hey, has anybody gotten theirs yet? If so, how does that golden ink look? I'm wondering the same thing about An Inevitable Fate as well, BTW.

Does anybody have a http://shirt.woot.com/offers/cloak-of-visibility-lightweight-hoodie and/or http://shirt.woot.com/offers/who-needs-gravity-zip-up-hoodie in MXL that they don't want and/or need to sell? I would LOVE to buy it from you! I am currently offering $40+S&H for either one new, and $20-30+S&H for either one used! Please contact me ASAP, thanks!

got mine, it looks good just wish there was more of it, its very minimal just around part of the edge of the wing mostly.

i got mine. haven't worn it yet because somehow it just didn't translate well onto the tshirt....it lost its sharpness that it had in the pictures especially glaringly noticeable where the white flares are. for how beautiful it was in the picture, the print version was almost cartoonish.
and the gold, they might as well have just left it off completely for how little and how badly it was used. tiny stripes at the edge of the wings and then it looks like someone just randomly splattered a couple of drops here and there just to say it had gold print on it. you really had to look hard to realize it was gold at all.
the tshirt didn't seem to do the image the justice it deserved.

My bf got his and tbh, I am very disappointed in how it looks. The Phoenix lost nearly all its color definition in print (I can't make out the scarlet aura around the phoenix that is on the drawing on the actual shirt itself and the inner wing is nearly invisible in print) and it looks fuzzy and pixelated at the same time. I'm beginning to wonder if he received an error'd shirt.

I'll send in a picture too, but I don't think it's a print error, it just.. didn't work. Especially the gold ink - had it been a bright line instead of a screen, it would have made the shirt come alive. I mean, I came to the discussion, as I didn't see the metallic ink, and only after reading in another post where it was, did I notice it.

This is roughly what I received (the digital camera actually makes it looks better..) So buyer be aware when picking this shirt in the reckoning.

The only things I noticed with mine were the red aura having all but vanished (which could very well be ANNIE YOU SUCK AT MAKING HALFTONES) and on one of the shirts the gold almost looked to have peeled away. But it was my husbandman's shirt and I'm sure he didn't want to walk around blingin' too hard anyway, so. I like the way it looks and I hope it was just some kind of error and not ANNIE NEVER DESIGN AGAIN. :T

I agree that pictures of this shirt look cool. In actuality, the shirt doesn't look quite this awesome (to my eyes anyway). At any rate, my bf liked it enough that I won't bother the CSRs for a replacement. I'm starting to think that the print on the shirt is just supposed to look "dotty" and not crisp/solid colors like in the artwork. It threw me for a loop because he also owns "Swept Away" and the artist drawing for that shirt very clearly showed the halftones while the artwork for Phoenix looked like it would be a solid print.

My shirt also turned out looking nothing like I was expecting..

The ink just did not turn out correctly.. just a ton of diagonal lines and the image looks dead"faded washed out colors" and not as strong.

Nothing like the shirts I have gotten from woot in the past.

exactly! to me, it looked like an old dying tv set was playing cartoons. you know how you can get those horrible de-interlacing lines when you watch a crappy old tv? thats what mine looked like.

the "aura" or whatever it was that was behind the phoenix just ended up looking like dried blood on the black shirt. could have been a cool effect on a different kind design, but on this one it was wildly out of place.

i've loved practically every shirt i've purchased from shirtwoot (the only exceptions being some very weird ones acquired from the random shirt days...but even those weren't badly printed) and this was the first one that really made me go blech when i eagerly ripped open the envelope. i even bought 2 of them because my sister loved the image too. oy...

Throw my name in the hopper too--it doesn't look as crisp and especially the back wing doesn't show up very well like the picture of the shirt on the site looked. I'll send an email in so Woot can perhaps do some QC.

I just got mine today and it looks like what others are describing, blurry overall and with very little gold ink. I opened my "Make Your Own Luck" first and was so pleased with the gold ink, then saw this one and thought maybe the gold was forgotten. I'm hoping it was a misprint cause I adore this design.

I got this shirt today. It was purchased for my 4 yo son, whose name is Phoenix. I ordered the kids size 6, which is normally large on him, with the hope that he could wear it next year too. The shirt actually looks more like a size 4. It fits now, but I'm afraid it will only fit for another month, if I'm lucky! Is it possible to exchange this for a size 8? Does anyone know? I purchased Woot shirts for him in the past with no problem regarding sizing. I'm really disappointed!

Feel free to measure the shirt and compare it to the sizing chart on the sale page. If you find it's not to size, send photos and info to service@woot.com.

If it's true to size, then you'll probably need to order a size up. Growth spurt?

I emailed them with my picture but I wasn't asking for a refund, I presented it as an informational email so they could do some QC. I heard back the same day--she said they were checking into it--I've already worn the shirt so I'm not that interested in sending it back. I was just disappointed it didn't look like what I expected.

It took people a beat or two to figure out what it is--one guessed "frog" and one said "peacock" but both of them recognized it as a Phoenix bird after some study. I think if Mr. Phoenix's back wing showed up better he would be more readily recognized.

I got my shirt last week and it looks great especially the gold clouds on the black background. No problem with the gold ink-the bird's feathers are lined and highlighted in gold and there are lots of "drops" of gold ink below the bird. The design on mine starts a few inches lower on the shirt than in the illustration but I think it is better centered that way.
