Congratulations to this week's new veterans, The Cat in the Box and The Green Door! A shirt's first week as a veteran, when it loses its first week of sales, is often a dangerous one for new veterans - this week, more than ever because Oh My Goodness, there's a t-rex! And there's another one! And there's a third one! Three t-rexes in the top five! Quick, hide the penguins, the small woodland creatures, the muppets, the... well, the cat is probably okay. Unless he's not okay. Maybe he's okay and not okay at the same time? Either way: seven shirts will become t-rex feed at the bloody conclusion of Reckoning 269 next Monday at noon.

Huh, The-Shirt-That-Must-Not-Be-Named is ahead of The Binge for the first time in... well, for as long as I can remember. What kind of madness is this?

I don't predict a lot of movement in this Reckoning. Cat's Resume will fall a few spots but will probably survive. Woodland Rescue should jump up a spot or two. We might see a fight at the line, but I predict a rather anemic battle. The dailies just were not very strong sellers last week, and the derby winners have already made their marks.

3 T-Rex, 2 cats, 2 dragons, a shark, a vampire, and 6 ninjas – the Reckoning has gotten lousy with predators.

I've read this forum for a long time, and I still can't figure it out. I even attempted to use google to no avail! What does DSR stand for?

Am I the only one who sees that many *TOP* voted designs are not selling at least what their vote count was in the derby?

Users need to stop voting for designs they *just* like and instead vote for the ones they would actually buy.
They're treating votes like a thumbs up.

Yes? I can't recall the last Derby shirt that sold fewer shirts that it received votes, but it's been a while: maybe Going Down with the Ship?

Not a dumb question at all! Blanked nailed it, but your question made me think that perhaps we should assemble a Reckoning FAQ. If we did that, what should go in?
- explanation of what the Reckoning is, seven shirts Reckoned each week, etc.
- abbreviations
- brief explanation of the formula
- what does/doesn't count towards the Reckoning (first day sales, woot-offs); maybe include something about artists' compensation here?
- explanation of Dallies/Derby/ECs

What else would you like to see included? What else was super-confusing when you first started poking around shirt.woot? Artists, anything in particular that you'd like for new wooters to know?

For at least the past eight weeks, most of the derby winners have made it out of the Danger Zone for a short time, and some have been run-away successes. Remember that right now only the first place winner (Friday's offering) is picked solely by votes. The runner-up and the "chump" are both chosen independently of votes, although the Editor's Choice (Saturday's shirt) tends to be either from the fog or close to it. The guest editor's choice (Sunday's) is anyone's guess.

As far as I can tell, even the winners that don't survive a week sell at least as many votes as they received, and usually more so (double or more).

So TL;DR version: it's just you. ;)

It's supposed to be "Frequently Asked Questions," so "in the form of a question" makes perfect sense. "Frequently Given Answers" would be a whole different set! ("Check the tag: if the exclamation point is light blue, woot sent you a women's shirt...")

Your suggestions are great - definitely stuff that people wonder or ask about, and having links to some of the more common Reckoning-related threads like best sellers/raritees makes perfect sense. Maybe something about how the Reckoning sidebar awards run Tuesday midnight-Monday 11:59PM?

I hope you're right because many times when I see a new winner in the "worst seller" section... the count is real low. like less than 50 low.

That count is NOT the total sales, but just what has been sold since midnight Tuesday.

The "worst seller" category resets on Tuesday morning at midnight. We're not wrong: it's been months since a shirt that emerged from the Derby sold fewer shirts on its first day than it received votes, nevermind was Reckoned with fewer sales than votes.

Um, except for the week I had 13 doctors' appointments, I believe I update the stats far more often than "every so often."

Oh hey, you're totally right! I calculated them on different nights, and apparently I calculated sales/comment one night, and comment/sales the other. I remember being very tired and confused about which I'd calculated before; obviously, I should take more care when PWT (posting when tired!). Thanks for pointing it out!

I'm not sure if "What's a 'Woot Off'?" would be a good question in regards to the reckoning FAQ. Perhaps: "How do the sales made during the shirt 'Woot Off' hour affect the reckoning?"

BTW, a Woot Off is when Woot decides to sell one item until it sells out. Then, they put up another item for sale. This happens for 1 to 3 days. Sometimes, the deals are better during a Woot Off. Shirt.Woot does not have it's own Woot Off, but the main page generally has a one hour block where all shirts in the reckoning are $12.
