hands down my favorite shirt this week. i'm not super crazy for space aliens, but the layout, and the successful nod to the notre dame mascot make this work so well.

Nice work! O.R.! This idea definitely crossed my mind once or twice when the topic was announced. I really like the distressing.

In the case of the cookie shirt and in your Empire State design my comments were not left with any ill-will. I honestly thought, whether intentional or not, that both conflicted with a derby rule.

I typically don't comment on a design meeting/violating rules, but I broke from that this week. Again, this wasn't meant to be an attack or anything on the artists and what they did. I hate when something gets rejected in the late stages of the derby, so when I noticed the issues, I commented. I am not one of the people on a mission to get works rejected. The sooner an artist knows about a potential problem, the sooner they can work on another design.

Keep doing so. Until the artists whine, don't take it personally that some of the voters see it as a bad thing. I think most artists would rather hear 'this might be a problem' than be rejected. For those that don't---well, this is the internet. They need to toughen up.

References to poorly written soft core [Goodnight, everybody!] Twilight fan-fic on children. Yeah, that says classy all the way, doesn't it?

Only if you don't know any Latin. It's not that it's grammatically incorrect, it's that it means exactly the same thing as the original.

Granted, there are probably more people that don't know any Latin buying shirts than do.

orabbit wrote:The Latin should say Ex Uno Plures. I get it as is, but it's wrong.

I agree, and this is a reason why I wouldn't get the shirt. If you want it to look closer to the original, E Plures Uno would work--it means the same thing as Ex Uno Plures but looks closer to E Pluribus Unum.

If this doesn't win the derby, a corrected version would be an awesome critics pick!

I love this shirt design. I hope it gets picked for sale in the next Double-Take Derby. It really should have been a winner this time around.
