I really like this design - and love the homage to a truly wonderful movie that I suddenly really want to rewatch! - but I'm wondering if the impact would be increased if it said, "College of Life: You never know..." rather than simply "Life." The phrase that I usually hear is, "I attended the college of life" or "I attended the school of hard knocks." The format certainly references college shirts, but I think it would "read" quicker/more obviously if "college" were included.

Just a thought - I really do like the design and I'd like to see it do as well as possible!

This is just fantastic! The parody of "college shirt" is spot-on, from the Latin motto to the fake Greek letter/emblem with the fork - and the colors/layout are great. I have a deep fondness for Horace's Satirae, and this is just the perfect use of ab ovo usque ad mala.

I really like this idea. There are just a few elements that either I would've changed the placement or omitted - having university and college is particularly irksome (and redundant). Did you try having Shawshank where it presently is and then University or College where Geology is? Then, the smaller text (where University and College are now) could be Department of Geology. That might be a bit more cohesive. And just look more like other college/department shirts. Again, I truly do like this idea and feel like it has the potential to be really amazing.

ETA: Perhaps cutting out New England too...just having Maine may be enough.

When I was working on it, I was definitely going for Grey, Orange, Grey, but I see what you're saying. The "orange" looks gold, especially in the mock-up.

I like the balance between detail and simplicity in this design. I know that sounds goofy, but the minimal amount of text, the placement of Curiosity and Mars, and the stars work very well together. It's not overwhelming in terms of different elements and overall the design is very well done.

It *could* be more orange, but I'd buy it as-is myself. If you do decide to alter the colors, I think going bright would be a mistake. Something subdued.

You may have some trouble with the "No real colleges" rule. There is an Empire State College in the SUNY system.

ETA: Sorry to be the annoying one to point that out. But it sounded familiar, not for the Star Wars, but since I used to live near it...
