EDIT: Also, they title of this piece ("Freebird") is a direct take on the song "Free Bird" (or "Freebird") by Lynyrd Skynyrd, which contains the same imagery (of a guy "moving on" - which, in the 70's, would have been the quintessential hitchhiker w/ the guitar on his back).
