pangurban wrote:Actually, to follow up my own comment - and because I'm new and still figuring out how this stuff works - when that happens, (a strikingly similar entry has gone up while one was working on one's own), is there an etiquette?

For now, I've just deleted my entry. It would need it's text deleted in any case. But having just spent half a day on the thing, it's definitely a little bit painful!

Edit: this probably belongs in the derby thread. Moving that direction....

You should post it anyway.

Lol, I see now, it's a clown! I just thought it's a painted lion and I didn't see how a painted lion looks like a person, I didn't notice it is supposed to be a clown, my bad, sorry

lyonscc wrote:I had in mind the hitchhikers wandering across the country with a guitar strapped to their back, and just the clothes on their body. I realize you don't see as many of those nowdays, but back in the 70's and 80's it was fairly common. One of my friends was a musician who hitchhiked from place to place w/ his guitar, until he sold a couple of songs in Nashville and could afford a vehicle.

EDIT: Also, they title of this piece ("Freebird") is a direct take on the song "Free Bird" (or "Freebird") by Lynyrd Skynyrd, which contains the same imagery (of a guy "moving on" - which, in the 70's, would have been the quintessential hitchhiker w/ the guitar on his back).

Ok. Well argued.

Re: Bunny Wife

Howdy everyone! It's been a while. Obviously I'm still not great at this, but I took a simpler approach. As you can see, it's a cute little bunny getting married! ^-^

Re: The Foxtrot

This would be spiced up so much more with some manner of halftones on the background. The characters fit in quite well here. Soft, subtle, but the background is too visually aggressive in comparisson. :3

Thx for executing my idea, btw. ^_^

Re: Bear Naked

Mosaic seems like a bad choice here. (Makes it seem far naughtier than it actually is.) Perhaps the penguin holding a wine tray in front of him would be less visually jarring, or something else to that extent.

No problem! I want to do a few more fox themed entries as well. I limited myself to foxes this week in order to challenge and restrict my options. Your suggestion was a perfect start.
I wanted to keep everything flat, rather storybook. If I have time, I might see how the contrast between the flat characters and a well halftones background plays.
Thanks for both suggestions!

Re: Foxtrot Version 2

I apologize, I meant gradients with the background as in having the background fade out into the shirt color rather than having solid edges. Not specifically gradients inside the background. :3

Like, the flat works great for the characters in this instance. But the background doesn't need to be so blocky/solid.
