Like, the flat works great for the characters in this instance. But the background doesn't need to be so blocky/solid.

Yeah, I created a series of halftoned backgrounds, but it just didn't look right. It kept fighting with the manner in which I stylized the characters.
In the pursuit of different backgrounds I made a few different decisions. My wife helped me to finalize a few colors.

When midterms are next week, things like making each snowflake different suddenly become very important. Sure, I'm not finished writing that paper on acquired deficits to the auditory input lexicon, but my house is decorated in little foam pumpkins that I handmade.

I get that there are rules, but I feel like the text here is subtle enough that the artist probably didn't even think of it. No need to get huffy.
