Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

Old fashioned muffins (cut out half the sugar of any modern recipe) not the modern ones where the only difference between them and cupcakes is the frosting.

Or a nice scone.

I'm a fan of scones.

Or tarts. Who doesn't like a good tart?

Fruit tarts are delicious, especially the ones that Wegmans makes (if you have the privilege of living in the northeast or the DC area). I also am a fan of the Chocolate Bavarian Creme Pie that a local restaurant used to make...mmmm

Sometimes a good old buttery biscuit will do as well.

Yeah, I have to cut the sugar in a lot of recipes. Otherwise it takes over all of the actual flavors. Muffins!

This is all reminding me of a basic truth of life--"muffins" is really fun to say.

Muffins muffins muffins muffins muffins.

Do you eat cupcakes?
Do you eat muffins?
Do you consider the eating of cupcakes to be moral and the eating of muffins to be immoral?
Of course not. It is all a matter of taste, isn't it?
And taste is not the same as appetite, and therefore not a question of morals.
My taste includes both muffins and cupcakes.

I have a shirt catalog, y'all!

Oh man. There's a locally owned donut shop near me that makes the most amazing apple fritters I've ever had. I pick them too.

Otherwise cupcakes. As already stated, muffins these days are basically giant cupcakes without the frosting. So I'm not going to settle for an imitator, which given its size, might be worse for me.

The Flying Monkey in Reading Terminal Market makes them. Might be seasonal.

You have a weird world. Betty's are baked. Fritters are fried. I could go on, but I doubt you are paying attention.

I know too much about baked goods.

Pedants pay attention to everything, don't they? I actually know the difference, shockingly, but I like the term Apple Brown Betty for the sheer quaintness of it.

Feel free to ignore the boring bits. It's easier.

I figured you did. Otherwise I'd have offered to make them and send them to you as an example.

Tortes don't use wheat flour and are generally layered with a filling.

Tarts wear lots of rouge...no, wait, that's not what Mary Berry would say. Tarts are a thin pastry shell with a fruit or cream/custard filling.

I can send you an apple torte, but I'm afraid tarts are too delicate to send in the mail. You're welcome to come by sometime for a tasting. Bring the family, check out the Poconos. ;)
