The great recycling spirit watches, while we destroy the environment. If we don't make a change, we will all pay the price.

Re: Space Shuttle Repurpose

"Space Shuttle Repurpose"

I dedicate this design to the Space Shuttle Atlantis, the last of NASA's space shuttles to move into retirement next Friday.

Now that we are seeing the end of an age of space exploration and are hopefully on the verge of another, we wave an eco-friendly hand at these giants of the past and recycle, or repurpose, them to make our world better in any way they can.

Re: Recycling Is Where It's At

This might be fifteen years too late to be relevant, but I've always thought this song was about recycling. Beck is a master at recycling samples into new music.

Re: But you didn't have to throw me out

Why does the can have the recycle arrows on him? Oh, I know. Because you had an idea (barely). And you had to fit it in the rules somehow. So you randomly placed the recycle arrows where they wouldn't be!

I love this so much, I can't even express it.

(And yes, it was very hard not to say "espresso it," but I managed, and you're welcome.

Actually, the recycle arrows are on the can to indicate that he was supposed to be recycled instead of being in the trash. I could have very easily included a recycling bin in the design, or had him holding up a recycling sign, but I wanted to create the feeling that he is alone and sad in the trash can and I think that the idea for the design comes across extremely clearly this way. I didn't realize I would take heat for following the rules. I know it's a knee jerk reflex for you to leave a critical comment, but I think this time it is particularly unwarranted.

While I realize this one isn't very female-friendly, it was a suggestion of my oldest child, though I hope he didn't recycle this way when he was away at school.

6 (not 50) Shades of Grey on Asphalt. Sorry for the blurry title on the design comp :/ And just to make sure its clear, the "writing" on the movie ticket is just scribbles. Enjoy the Old Timey charm.

Re: More Than The Three R's

(get off my lawn)
When I was growing up, it was second nature to toss the vegitable scraps into the garden. We patched the knees of our jeans. If they were too worn for patches, we turned them into shorts. We saved our bacon grease because it was the best thing for frying up eggs. Shoeboxes were decorated and used for storage. We didn't call it recycling, or upcycling, or whatever the kids are calling it these days. It was the best way to get every use, and every penny's value, out of everything that came into our home.
(/get off my lawn)

Seriously though, there are so many more ways to be earth friendly than buying re-usable water bottles, or tossing your soup cans in the recycle bin. But I supposed if they tried to diagram it, the icon would have a whole lot more than three arrows.

3 colors on Navy.

Not to mention that most recyclable items have the arrows on them somewhere, perhaps the maker of this can decided to put it on the front?

Would be better with a bicycle with wheels that are the recycling symbol. Just saying...
