redsatchmo wrote:Hey, I'm glad you like it! Yah that's one of the things I struggled with in coming up with the derby image, because when you look at it at more of a full size it stands out a little better. Maybe it would look better in a different color scheme?

Maybe if you just kept it with just the one color of the line design. I'm getting lost with the blue half-tone in the center of it, and I think it makes it difficult to see your main idea.

Still, it's really neat, and I love the effort you put into it!

First thing that I thought too! We're not alone!

bigblued wrote:Maybe it's just me, maybe it says more about how I perceive things than I should publicly admit. But now that I've seen it, I am having a hard time un-seeing it.

The shading on the arrows, especially on the arrow, um, head, combined with the how the tail of the arrow is positioned off of the, um, base...would that pass the PG-13 test?

Or am I the only one who sees it?

Other than that, stunning design!

that was fun while it lasted!

Here's an alternate version for all you yellow haters our there...

trees recycle water, sunlight and CO2 to make oxygen...Our bodies recycle oxygen to live... We must recycle for the cycle to continue...

Thanks. I'll admit I'm a little bummed about the votes for this but happy that its has votes and some people like it. This was also kind of an experiment for me to use halftones for semi-real shading. I'm glad you enjoy it!

Re: The Earth needs a hero!

My son would love to have this shirt!!!! I think it could have been improved by being green colored - at first glance, I think people will mistake this for a Spiderman shirt. However, the idea and the execution of the trompe l'oeil [sp?] are great. If it doesn't make print this week, I hope you resub it some time!

Well, the theme is Recycle!

(EDIT- After reading this back, it sounds snarky and mean to me... no major offense meant toward fishy...)

I respectfully disagree! I love the detail and the line art, and I think the blue halftone brings in the blue and green of the Earth and the recycling theme perfectly.
My only suggestion would be perhaps to decrease the detail between the central Earth image and the outer "chasing arrows" and leave more negative space so the design reads easier from a distance.
I like "as is" though, and I'd buy it if it prints...esp if it ever makes it onto a tote...

Probably because it's already a trademarked logo, just with the arrows added. It's a shame, I really did like it though, so I'm voting for this one too

Re: Captain Recycle (Recycled)

This one is better, less obvious... first you are like "wha???" and then you are like "ah... that's clever." I do think it would look better on a dark green shirt instead of blue though.
