I didn't mean to imply that I didn't enjoy the movie. It's one of my favorites! I remember thinking as I read the book, "This would be a great movie, but HOW could they do it?" Lo and behold, they did it very well. I was giving advice to NPS who hasn't seen the movie (and apparently hasn't seen many popular films) because I think she may prefer reading and I didn't want her to miss out on a fantastic book. As someone who spends a lot time in libraries and book stores, and can't remember the last time I was in a movie theater, I'll always recommend books.

As someone who hasn't watched the Princess Bride, I feel like an incorporeal spirit wandering the halls of Shirt.Woot today.

I also feel like I need to watch the Princess Bride!

I seriously went "Omens, Monsters, and Goblins! A PRINCESS BRIDE REFERENCE!!!" But in my head...b/c yelling that out loud would just be awkward.

I believe there is no actual Morgenstern version. The original was by Goldman, who pretended it was an abridgment of an old classic novel to add the the appeal of his book. All the asides and comments within are all staged. But the Goldman book really was written several years before the movie. So if anyone wants to sell you a Morgenstern "original", beware!
