Twinkie the Kid is a trademarked corporate mascot, and this design is clearly representing the "sunset" for Twinkies, as a result of the current Bakers' Union strike. There is no parody involved. Woot pulled a shirt it was printing last year, where a knight on a chessboard had bat ears (i.e. "The Dark Knight") - they got a cease & desist letter from DC comics and pulled the shirt (and all remaining images of it). That was incredibly defensible as parody, but Woot went the conservative route. Since then, they have been zealous in rejecting things that have copyrighted characters (with spurts of weeks/months-long "no pop culture" runs since).

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I was just trying to be helpful by explaining some of the current ropes, and y'all made a federal case of it.

Actually, it was because of potential racial sensibilities, not because of cannibalism (my earlier shirt that printed was based on the Donner Party and cannibalism). I didn't even consider that, but I understand how some might make that connection.

I'm a little confused. What all is on the shirt? The text? Which set of text? The thumbnail shows one set, the mockup shows something else. The thumbnail must match the actual design. You might want to check the Derby FAQ as well, since it looks like this is outside the printable area.

I was thinking that the Donner Party shirt was a little more obscure in terms of it's cannibalism reference, while this one was much more in your face about it.

But I can see the other issue as well.

Ah, in the past they weren't "leftovers." That's the beauty of the concept. (after dinner last night, I placed an extra serving left from our meal in a tupperware dish, and my husband gladly brought this to work in his lunch bag today. So yesterday, it was the food of the future...)

So it looks like the "Pi" figure in this is made of individual numbers. Any chance you can post an image of a scaled version, as it looks like those details would be WAY too fine to actually be able to print.
