I doubt that the reason these images are allowed has much to do with the difficulty of or effort involved in incorporating them into a design.

I think you're only prohibited from using anything that would infringe upon someone else's copyright or intellectual property rights. The images from that website are explicitly available for others to use, so their use doesn't violate anyone's rights.

Unlike these, many images posted to the web are protected, and that's why designs that use them are rejected.

I like the design, but I think it's a stretch for being on theme. The design is of a fairy-no 'N' there. If you'd included other 'non-existent' things, like unicorns and Santa, then perhaps the concept would come through. Without the title, though, it doesn't show the derby theme.

This is really stunning -- I love the woot shirts that are more than a gag.

I know this is nit picky, but the top bird is the eagle that lives at the top of the tree of life and bickers with the serpent, so really there's only one raven. I would love to see two, both Thought and Memory. And the eagle a bit bigger and more engaged with the serpent. And also a solid gold potty. And a pony.

You know what I love beyond all rational thought? The way the tail curves up and becomes one of the branches of the tree. Sneaky serpent!

Haha, I haven't noticed that! That really is a cool detail.

How can you be so sure about the eagle though? I thought the same at first too, but it does look more like another raven to me. I hadn't thought of Hugin and Munin before, but it would also make sense. Seeing the hammer and helmet, it would also follow the same pattern of symbolism.
