I have always been a big Escher fan. This was a drawing I did a few years ago that was inspired by him. I added the hand/stand to make it more interesting and add an extra element of homage.

Works fine for me. Taking it out would make it look weird. Maybe I'm not as sensitive as you are.

But that means the frosting just ends partway. It breaks the 'single sided object' rule by having a top to be frosted and a bottom left unfrosted.
