Yep, listening now, as I had to Google to figure out what this was about. And now I have a cartoon and cereal craving and it's not even a food shirt ; )

Just watched the opening on YouTube to be sure... Sounds like LURKS to me. The lyrics sites seem to be split down the middle. But it sounds like lurks, and that's what I remember from my childhood... So the effect is ruined for me I'm afraid. Pass...

It seems in the full three minute version it is "watch behind you." However, in the one minute tv intro we all know and love it's "lurks behind you."

ha! Agreed.

Also, I vote for LURK.

In honor of this post, I'm wearing my knock-knock shirt today.

Oh man. This graphic is so perfect but it's on a black shirt! What to do? Just grab on to some Ducktales.

We're indoctrinating our kids with all the cartoons of our youth (thank you, torrents!)--I think they'd love this!

Failure.

I actually watched every Ducktales episode multiple times when I was a kid, and I still didn't get it. Maybe if they had gotten the lyric right it would have helped.

Even if I still watched the cartoon regularly, I doubt I would've gotten the reference - that's like the least memorable part of the song.

Wait. Did Christina Aguilera contribute to this design?

Also, how bad is it that when I saw the shirt, I first thought of Electric Six:

LOL forget the shirt, I'm going straight to iTunes.

I just showed the shirt to my son and made him read it for himself, and he got it from the D-D-D-Danger. He loves that there's an eyeglass, too. He's a huge fan of the show (we own all three DVD volumes and the movie) and insists he needs this shirt.

Also, I disagree, not the least memorable part of the song, it's the one that sticks in my head the most. It's the part that out of nowhere all of a sudden runs through my head and has since I used to watch the show two decades ago.

My boys tend to sing "walks behind you," they like to be different.

Thank you Spacesick and Shirt.Woot, just what I needed today, something else to spend money on. If only I could get away with anything less than three shirts...

It is most definitely lurks. I remember just about every theme from every show I watched as a kid (it's a useless wonderful ability), and it would drive me nuts that the lyrics aren't right.

Got it immediately, but yeah, can't buy it without Lurks. Fix it, and I'm in for 1.

It's watch. Even Disney's own site lists the lyrics that way.

All these people complaining that it's supposed to be 'lurks', the official lyrics say 'watch', and all this time I thought it was 'CLOSE'...

Isn't anyone going to comment on the hilarious write-up for this shirt?

" MRS. BEAKLEY
Yes…I don't know know how to put this exactly, but it seems that Mr. Dewey…well…I know you have a special affection for him, and...

DUCKWORTH
What is it?

MRS. BEAKLEY
He slept with that visiting emissary from Turkey, Mrs. Paduck, who died in the throes of their love."

I don't how many people are going to get the reference, but I sure did, and that's damn funny stuff right there.

takethemeatbridge

quality posts: 10 Private Messages takethemeatbridge

Ok, so I just listened to both versions, long and short. As an impartial observer, I can hear why people THINK they say "lurks." The word is muffled, and sung by a chorus of backup singers.

However, careful examination of the audio file demonstrates that the first phoneme in the word is definitely a "w", and the final phonemes sounds more like a "ch" than a "ks". It is difficult to distinguish the middle, but I don't hear any pronunciation of an "r" sound, although singers rarely pronounce "r"'s distinctly.

Also, in the long version, the lead singer pronounces "watch" indisputably. Maybe they changed the lyrics for the shorter version, but the audio evidence does not support that theory.

Verdict: The shirt gets it right. For those of you who feel that your childhood memories have been trampled by reality, I apologize on behalf of the internet. Try to think of this as an opportunity to relive old joys with new life.

Or, feel free to start a forum of like-minded individuals who choose to obstinately deny the existence of reality. You will be in good company.

I remember it as "watch", but listening to the Youtube video of it I agree that it doesn't actually sound like a proper word, which leaves it open to interpretation.

Probably going to have this stuck in my head all day now.
