Yeah, really awesome work but it'd get you sued.

Hey, you've got to show the design placement on a shirt, or you'll get rejected. Resubmit!

eshuaye wrote:I love the use of the apple.

Thank you eshuaye. It was a hard decision trying to make the apple look like it was engraved versus readability. Although, not many can read ancient Mycenaean Linear B symbols.

For any interested it says Ka-Ri-Ta-Sa. I used Linear B because that is what Eris would have likely written with at the time if she weren't mythological. I was going to use Linear B for Eris' name but I used Greek letters instead so it would be easier to understand her name.

I started drawing Eris with the intention of drawing a woman but the proportions looked more like a child. I went with it. I figured, what's a more destructive and chaotic force than a child? :D

I was a little disappointed that the apple turned out so unreal in order to make it stand out.

'94... a simpler time... ruled by mysterious forces. A time when a scorned girl can start a war that wipes out Troy by just throwing an apple into a party!

Long winded, I know but, who's going to see this anyway on a rejected thread? Not many, I think.

...so anyway, I went with 1194 BC but some say 1193 BC. By modern dating techniques the date is in a different century, I think. I preferred the traditional dating since it makes it fit in with the '90s theme.

If you get a chance, it is interesting reading about Linear B and Linear A. Apparently the Mycenaeans had a spoken language but took their alphabet from another culture, (the name slips my mind right now). The alphabet did not have sounds that existed in their spoken language but they forced it to fit anyway. That is why some of the ancient Greek words seem ambiguous. They used the same symbols for multiple sounds and had to decipher the meanings based on context, which seems odd but, English has some words that are ambiguous and need to be deciphered by context also. So I guess it's not that odd.

My wife didn't want to hear about it so, you guys have to! (sorry)

wkjii wrote:I suppose that was a waste of time DRAWING Eris. I shouldn't have spent the effort on shading I guess?

Maybe the halftone makes it look like a photo... hmmm... Is it worth redrawing it with such a short time left? It didn't get votes anyway. I think I'll just take my drawing being rejected as a photo as a complement and move on.

Wow, that does look like a photo. I just got here to vote, I would have picked it, sorry.

There's a great deal of irony (real irony, not the 90's Alanis Morrisette "rain on your wedding day" type) in the fact that this individual pointed this out and then was responsible for both this and this.
