This shirt does seem infused with calm, rather than a storm of harpooning. But is the whale dreaming the ship or the ship dreaming the whale? I've always wondered, but never enough to read it. Captains Courageous for me.

I have completely failed to find the hidden pencil joke in this shirt so I assume it must not exist and this would be safe for kids. Not my kids, but you know, some kid I suppose.

I think it's okay too. If this shirt were on AA, i'd buy it for a mini series of whale shirts by the artist.

Kind of like the unstealthiest ninja series.

By the placement of the moon, I'd guess this would be Sailor Moon's pet whale. You know, if Sailor Moon had taken place under water.

Oooh, yeah. I like the idea that it might be the same whale that's plagued by all kind of nuisance humans. Though the whale in this shirt doesn't seem to be distressed.

This design makes me smile; the whale looks so satisfied!

The rules for Derby wins changed a while back, first to this:

"The winning shirt design will be sold on the site the very next day, while our art directors' pick and the guest editor's choice will be sold on Saturday and Sunday, respectively..."

And more recently, they changed again to this, though the change doesn't take affect until the current Derby's (#290: New Secret Societies) winners:

"And a change to the selection of winners: We will now sell the 2nd place finisher in the vote on Saturdays and our Editor's Choice pick on Sundays. We're eliminating the Guest Editor pick. Thanks to everybody who served - we just wish there were more of you."

I know the secret! Hidden in this design are 15 Ahabs, 7 Ishmaels, and 2 Polynesian harpoonists! You might have a hard time finding them though, as they are hidden behind the ninjas...

You can't change the rules, I love this design and would never have a chance without the guest pick.

Why does woot change the last name of the whale to pencil? You can put the word in the title of the shirt but not in the comments?? This makes my pencil soft.
