I would get rid of the barrel as J5 suggested. I like the princess but not in pink. The design is in shades of gray so your eye is drawn to the spot of bright pink. , maybe try red? or something not so bright. Just a suggestion.

Off the top of my head, "Eats Shoots and Leaves" had a gun, although that wasn't a Derby shirt. It probably depends partly on the context ("Duck Hunt!" With Vice President Cheney... oh right, no politics... )

Focusing on fun NES titles:

10-Yard Fight - Made me laugh. Football game.
720° - So overly simple. Skateboarding game.
8 Eyes - 8 eyes sounds pretty creepy. CV-style game.
Adventure Island - I have good memories of this one. Adventure Platformer.
Airwolf - An air-elemental wolf shirt design? Sweet. Shooter game with a helicopter but I've personally heard of it before so it wasn't TOO obscure.
Anticipation - THE ANTICIPATION!!! A connect-the-dots trivia/puzzle game. Best music evar! Best video game cover expressions evar!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBNaVhpoAr8 (Ahem, anyways)
Balloon Fight - Yeah, I mentioned it before, but I still think it'd be a great shirt design. :P Arcade-style game.

*Confused* I guess if you move part of the g to the T it could look like a P but if I'm not mistaken, this derby would be looking for a man with a pack for Pac Man. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, as I've most definitely misunderstood Woot's derby themes in the past.

On your other design, you don't want a big blob of ink on the chest, that will wear horribly. "punch-through" the kid to be the same color as the background.
