Re: Moon, Moon, Not a Moon

I swear woot printed a shirt just like this. It was the different phases of the moon with the last picture (bottom right) being the Death Star.

Edit: Found it.

This should be rejected.

Nice followup to your zombie piechart. I like the style alot. Hope the text doesn't give you a problem either, though I do think it would be fairly easily recognizable without the title text

Hmm, similar punchline, but I think the body of the joke (har har pun not intended) is different enough since it's showing different actual moons in the solar system and not phases of a single moon (luna).

writermist wrote:It's adorable but how is it an info-graph?

Well, it is a graphic (or picture) with information on it, making it easier to understand a certain concept (That Pluto is no longer a planet).

Infographics are a fun and quick way to learn about a topic without a ton of heavy reading.

Cool design. I hope you can resub it or have it in another derby.

Defiantly one of the best entries here. Very original and nicely drawn.
I for one am getting tired of all the Star Wars and Doctor Who entries. It's shirts like this I look for. C:

ncowick wrote:Color version looks good, but I think you made the right choice going with the white. Great design.

While it was neat to see the colour variation you made the right call. The tonal contrast is much better and when there's a reduced palette I think people complete details of the scene in their heads.
My favourite is the unfortunate character stuck in the rock, though I think you did a great job on the matter stream particle effect too.

The rebels shouldn't feel too threatened. At that range they are still safe from the stormtrooper's blasters.
I liked both colour schemes.

Great shirt, but you HAVE TO CORRECT the "Its a Trap"... it should be "It's a Trap"...

Great entry! Very creative!

However, I'd recommend resubmitting a version that's an infographic. As is, I'd expect this to fall victim to the rejectionator.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but Saturn sure looks like its on Uranus' orbit? Was that intentional?

Saturn is atilt in the tangle behind the cat. Uranus has rings of it's own, just not as complex as those of Saturn.

My speech is not parsing. I am speaking in ellipsis.

Excellent pick up laughtrack. That can be credited to sleep deprivation. I even managed to title the shirt incorrectly when it clearly says, 'We Must Be Cautious' on the design. Made the change and sent the updated file to woot thanks to you.
Appreciate everyone's votes and I'm glad you found my spin on a old joke funny, harzack.

mapinto wrote:I like this design, but struggling to understand how my "3 Little Indians" shirt got rejected during the "What makes me different" derby, and this one still stands. If anyone has insight, I'm all ears... This is my kind of humor, and but where is this line drawn?

3 Little Indians relies on something a little more complex I think. Firstly, the whole headband with the feather is an inaccurate/stereotyped (and therefore, offensive) sight gag. Secondly, the whole 'Indian vs. Native American' is a pretty taboo subject anyway.

I can see how people might feel this straddles a line. But this is more about the pun than anything, and I can't find anything negative attached to it. There is Khan and there is Mexi-Khan. One happened to be played by a Mexican actor, one was not. Pointing that out doesn't have any negative connotations.

Think about it this way: If a Mexican star trek fan saw this shirt, would they be offended? Why or why not?

If a Native American or Indian had seen the other shirt, would they be offended? Why or why not?

Those questions answer (for me) why this shirt is not offensive, while the other is.
