Guess the Theme

All right smarty pantses, here's a brain teaser: What is the connection or common thread between these six shirts? The first person to post the answer in the discussion thread for this sale will get one of each tee. The connection could be anything -- shirt color, artist, title, year printed...Good luck!

I'd headed into the forum to post it, just barely too late.

The good news, I guess, is that I already own some of these shirts and wouldn't wear the rest... so it's no huge hardship to miss this prize!

Ok, the question of "Is this too easy or too hard has been answered." We'll dig deeper next time. Congrats.

Also, I would like to point out the other thing they all have in common is they all start shipping on 7/17.

First word of each shirt title.

Ahhhhh...... Technically though that's not something they have in common, strictly speaking, I mean I could grab any number of books and say if you line one word up from each it'll spell something that is not in common with any of them.

move along, nothing to see here.

Imposter Pete was Unprepared for the Almost Human Nightmare Cuckoo Clock. The Walrus and Eggmen were the Height of Envy at the Monkey Bar. See the DJ spinning records on a Flora Phonograph while simultaneously playing Rock, Paper, Scissorhold.

This is what all of the things every shirt shown shares:
•Fiber Content: 4.5 oz 100% Combed Ringspun Cotton
•Manufactured In: Honduras/Nicaragua
•Printed In: Carrollton, Texas, USA
So what do I win and when will I receive my "prize"?

The answer is that each shirt references a movie from the 70's.

ichelst

quality posts: 0 Private Messages ichelst

i.e. the common theme is movies from the 70's

And those movies would be?!?
(I've got thoughts on some ie "...Chum" -> Jaws, but "The Black Hole"?!?)

I was thinking this was the US Government, especially the security state apparatus--TSA, Customs, NSA, and the like; the information black hole; force is definitely involved; "trust us, we won't eat you chums"; the electric herring (red herring on steroids) of "terrorism" which can be anything from throwing a bomb to complaining about local water quality (http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/06/21/official-says-water-complaints-act-of-terrorism/2445071/); "we the people" weren't invited to the government's party.

Guess that just goes to show, I don't know enough about 70s movies and Barthes was right when he said, "The author is dead."

"The Black Hole" was an exact title of a Disney movie. I could also see ichelst might have meant "Robocop" for the Searches and "Clue" for the Electric Herring? But I'm not sure for the last one. And I think some of those are 80s movies.

Disney actually released a movie titled "The Black Hole" in '79

I believe the Electric Herring refers to "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" circa '75... The only one I can't think of a movie to compare with is the You Weren't Invited shirt...

My mistake. I see it's all six shirts, not just the three in the email. So, yeah, it's May the Force Be With You. Very clever.
