makes kittens so cute? What makes baby bunnies so sweet? The answer is
“little astronauts”. Each day, the little astronauts replace the least
adorable proteins with a new sequence that’s twice as snuggly. But the
work is dangerous and many little astronauts are lost on a regular
basis.
There comes a day when the last little astronaut
simply can’t do the work alone, and then the proteins are left on their
own, to decay naturally over time. Not immediately, but inevitably, for
like all things, cute is a finite resource.
